To be fair to Birmingham it has great shops and loads of things to do plus the new library is largest public library in Europe and then there is Cadbury's world.

Dudley zoo has changed a lot. Flossy the elephant as long gone. Bubbles the orca has left the moat. They are spending a lot of money redeveloping the site.

Nah I agree.

I like Birmingham, I only go any where near London when absolutely unavoidable.

Actually, In avoiding going to the capital I booked flights to the continent. It's easier and cheaper to fly into Europe than see the embassy in London.

London is so large you can't possibly mean the whole of it because that would be a ridiculous statement and I can't believe you'd come out with one of those.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I'm back in Birmingham next week, for the third time in a month. It has a feel but I love London.

The series of villages that is London means you never quite know what you will find. In less than 10 minutes I can walk to a little river and looking in one direction it looks like a country village scene but if I turn my head to the right I can see the towers of the City and to the left the blocks that show this is an inner city area.

Born and raised in the and around brum but wouldn't recommend it. Worked in London for a short time and wouldn't recommend that

No way. The architecture and landscapes are different. The colour schemes of the bricks and stone immediately identify that it's not London. The vibe is different, the air is different (London loses there), even the way people drive tells you that you're not in London.

"Big mistake was in producing too many Spitfire's (in the Castle Bromwich factory that now produces Jaguar Cars)

If it hadn't been for the Spitfires the Germans could have done a better job of flattening London and we wouldn't be having this debate now! "

.......& then they sold out to.............yep, you guessed it, - BMW!!

Its a pity the midlanders didn't work quick enough then maybe they could have saved Coventry as well.

London

"London Is a shit hole anyway

Which part is as you've described ?

London is so large you can't possibly mean the whole of it because that would be a ridiculous statement and I can't believe you'd come out with one of those.

I've been all over London.east London and north London especially awful

Dirty everywhere

It's my opinion whether you think it's ridiculous or not

I wouldn't live in London for love nor money and for clarification that's anywhere

My parents left London and moved to Preston. Always felt they moved there for spite. My siblings and I always wondered what we did wrong for them to punish us: you couldn't do a flying visit!

My father is about to do that. It's cruel and unusual punishment."

Maybe it won't be so bad now, they moved there in 1988...scared me for life!

I'm from Birmingham but lived in London for 5 years and still spend a lot of time there. There is no comparison in my opinion, London all the way.

Arse End of the Universe, Cumbria

I've only been to Brum for shopping (oh, and Chams) so don't actually know what else there is there...I do love to visit London though, specially being from a very small provincial town (although the prices in Covent Garden wine bars scarred me for life!) I wouldn't particularly like to live anywhere else as Arse End is my home but I do like visiting big cities when the village elders grant permission. If given the choice of a few days in London or Brum I'd probably plump for London but that's not saying Brum is worse, just that I reckon there'd be more to see in London
