I think the "War of the Worlds" Radio show scared the most people ever....

Hilarious to imagine so many people thinking there was an alien invasion.

Just looked it up on Imdb. The ghost was played by 'Keith Ferrari' I remember we were having a Halloween party at a friends we were about 12/13 and her sister was about ten and was frightened so much! We got those fake blood capsules you put in your mouth and bite and the powder mixes with saliva and the poor girl cried! Oops x

Proof was needed that Derek Acorah was a fake?!

Lol.

I remember Ghostwatch on BBC with Michael Parkinson, in which Sarah Greene "died". Scared the bejesus out of us!

Didn't the tabloids say someone died watching it or shortly afterwards?

But surely by the law of averages, someone could keel over watching the tele-tubbies! Does that mean lala killed him/her?

My dad's verdict, upon coming back from the pub, was that we should have guessed, as any programme with that bloke from Red Dwarf was bound to be a joke....

LOL sad but true. They should do more prank horror shows though. Dead Set was good, but I mean something supposed to be real.

An 18 year old killed himself a week after and there was a note regarding ghosts...his step dad blamed the programme as the boy was fixated by the programme..

I seem to remember Paul Daniels being hauled over the coals for doing a stunt that involved him dying in a trick that went wrong. It's a pity as I think something that challenges the nice cosy bubble of just sitting in front of the goggle box is to be encouraged.

The best... the very best for that...

Simon Drake & the Secret Cabaret on Channel 4 in the early 90's. He's just become an honorary master of the Magic Circle.

He used to set himself on fire or impale himself and die in front of the audience, but rather than put out the flames after a minute, he'd just lie there and burn lol

Simon Drake was brilliant. He was the anti-dote for Paul Daniels when people started to wish PD would burn himself alive for real!

Used to watch The Secret Cabaret and then change over for Tour of Duty & The Little Picture Show...

Tour of Duty was boss too

I was a huge fan of Simon Drake when I was a kid. Then I saw his Raising Hell show with Iron Maiden and that was the day I knew I wanted to be a guitarist. I talk to Simon on Facebook, he runs special evenings for guests at his country house.
