I used to love my smirnoff. But it's Russian Standard for me now

I been put off ever since I realised if you type smirnoff into a phone using predictive text, it comes up as poisoned!! Lol

I'm not a vodka connoisseur. I usually stick to Smirnoff. I open to reasonably priced recommendations though. I specified "decent" to rule out those such as the Morrison's own brand mentioned above.

Smirnoff blue, Russian Standard are both good as is Bison Grass. However I did a taste test of Aldi's own blue vodka and it was as good as the Russian Standard.

Believe a quarter polish/quarter russian guy: go to the nearest polish shop and buy some Sliwowica.... Not a lot more expensive than a bottle of smirnoff but thousand times better!!

Grey Goose is about double the price of Smirnoff. And it's French.

The alcohol in Aldi has won numerous awards and is of very good quality despite being cheaper.

Schmirnoff really isn't nice vodka though. I would be happy to spend more on something if its nicer to drink. Even if its French

I used to drink grey goose in the states and on base in Germany it was dirt cheap....Smirnoff was even cheaper at about a fiver a litre and they had every flavour going....oh I miss those days

Might I also suggest trying Dannoff its from Latvia and is certainly one of the best I have tasted I rate Russian Standard too very highly and find that is often reasonably priced.

Russian Standard is regularly on offer at Tesco and, I find, has the added bonus of being less hangover inducing than Smirnoff

[*in a survey one out of one respondents reported fewer hangovers after drinking Russian Standard than the nearest priced competitor. YMMV]

Beluga,Absolut Elyx and Vestal are lovely vodkas but a bit pricey.

Russian Standard is the best tasting in the high street.

Buy some reasonable mid price vodka and make your own infusion.

Sugar and sloes for sloe vodka.

Vanilla pod and bit of sugar.

Both easy both make average vodka taste much better.

Doesn't seem much point paying a lot for vodka if you are not drinking it straight?

However we do prefer Russian Standard and Stoli.

I only drink vodka mixed so there's no point me buying expensive stuff.

I'm quite happy with Smirnoff for mixing but would like to try some of the other reasonably priced alternatives.

There are some great recommendations on here and I thank you all for posting.

Given the frequency with which I'd drink alcohol, it might take me 10 years to get through the suggestions!

When on special at supermarkets Russian standard and green mark are a nice alternative to Smirnoff for mixing.
