its all bollox anyway evidently you cant lose weight with a calory ccontrolled diet, the body compensates for lack of calories by reducing metabolic rate re the feed or famine trip the body has.

Reading a book at the moment called the big fat lie ,we have been conned for years by this corporate slop, want to lose weight change to a hunter gatherer diet with low starch and foods with a low insulin response evidently.

to me goiong to weight watchers is more than just following the diet, its getting weight by someone else that will know if you have over eaten and gained, its the suppoer and encoragement, its having a leader thats been in my situation who i can call up when i need help, i would have never done it alone, but i did follow the diet and it has worked for me, along with going to the gym, thing is it dont mater what 'diet' you follow its basic maths, less cals in than are being burn off, so long as your burning off more than your eating you can follow any diet you like, at the end of the day you could run a marathon every day and still gain weight IF you was eating more than you was burning off

I have been on the triple 'C' diet for the last three weeks...

I cut out Crisps, Cakes and Chocolate and spend an hour an evening on the Wii Fit....it's slowly working and the simple exercise is making me feel better all ready.

There's an article in The Sun today about the new Vatkins diet - which is the vegetarian version of the Atkins diet. Apparently people are losing 10lb in two weeks and it's all the rage in the U.S.

All diets have to be promoted - the one K and I did seemed to work for us, she lost 9 stone and me just over 3. The diet we used supposedly fooled the body into using only the calories we eat and then using body fat, it was called getting the body in a state of keytosis (don't think its spelt like that though ) K is now a different person, even a gym freak - those of you who have known us a long time would be staggered at that lol. But as I've said many times before its all down to what you are comfortable with.

Have to say though I know far more people with a BMI of 20+ more than the recommended than I do 20+ below

The reason Weight Watchers DOES work is because as someone said earlier - you get the support from the group.

The fact that someone else weighs you and you not lost weight they can manage how you are eating.

ANd its not a diet - its changing they way you eat.

It makes you more than aware of everything you put in your mouth and what food group it is from.

There are others in the group for ideas of recipes - when i went in my early twenties i have never eaten a courgette or avacado or auberegene.

But now love and live off a variety of veg and never looked back.

Good luck to you all that have lost/loosing weight.

Keep it you - you do feel better when you are a bit fitter too.

((And you CAN be fit and fat, oh and you CAN be happy and fat too ;0)

to be honest that is what i thought and a lot of other people still believe. However the content of this book is making me think otherwise. The author is a female corporate lawyer who decided to try and cut away the bullshit surrounding diets and food to get at the truth.she spoke to consultant nutritionists and Heart consultants saying i dont want your opinion only what you know for certain Sher also reviewed all the latest independent gov statistics:2009 re how much food we are eating

and how much exercise we take .

Believe it or not we are eating less than we did in the 70's and exercising more yet obesity and diabetes are on the rise,it is according to the experts due to the recommended high levels of starch triggering higher than usual insulin levels and constantly

The reason the government told us saturated fats are bad for us is laughable its a good read and if it works out to be true ,then a lot of people should get very angry at the government and FSA.

hi ,its called Big Fat Lies by

Hannah Sutter

they think they have also found a link with increased breast cancer and higher insulin levels too ..tested 61000 women and all the ones who developed breast cancer showed elevated insulin levels

more testing is needed but hope they have found something significant as it may help with prevention .

I was once "forced" to buy and eat a Mc Donalds breakfast. The only good bit about it was that it was warm! Several of the components tasted the same - tasteless! But I too have heard that some of the big brand sandwiches are incredibly unhealthy for what they`re meant to be!

Anything processed has high salt levels often in it as salt acts as a preservative. MacDonald's like all big companies are all for profit and if they can load with fat and salt to sell more they will. I like pizza hut but i would bet money they load with salt, sugar and fat too!

"Moral of the story..........make your own food as you know whats going in it "

AND

Eat smaller portions ya fat sods!!!

LOL

Seriously tho- in the "old" days when we fried everything, used dripping, blah blah blah,

But we didnt eat HALF as much processed food.

We never had pizza's, kfc or shite like that on a regualr basis. It was meat and tatties and veg. With gravy with all the fat out the meat, yumyum.

But we were also out all day playing on the park or in the woods etc. Not on our skinny arses playing pc/xbox.

Its gotta be a proven thing that less excersise contributes - or else as we slow down with age and put the fat on is it so hard to shift. lol
