I think we should just name the new country Yorkshire. "

There was a local eccentric (he was well off, if poor he'd have been a loony) in the 70's round here who unilaterally declared independence from England - he renamed his house and 20 acres of land "Independent Territories" and the craic was that he refused to pay taxes - dunno if he got away with it but Arse Enders still call the house Independent Territories and incidentally, when I win big on the lottery, it's the place I'm going to buy to turn into Cumbria's premier (only) swinging club - I think the owd rebel might look down from heaven and approve of my plans |

It can be done. Look up Sealand sometime.
I would be all for an independent Yorkshire but I would probably be deported for being a soft Southern pansy, not having been born here. |
