Cat on Neighbours porch roof.

It looks like my neighbour has gone away for some reason and according to the other neighbours they have been away for a couple of days.
They have left a bedroom window open which is above a flat roof over their porch. Their cat is now lying in the lee of that roof constantly meowing and whilst it does not look in pain it's in obvious distress and probably very hungry. I have gone out and got some cat food for it but not sure where I stand on getting it down and shutting their window as that storm is coming and I seriously don't want the cat to get blown off and hurt either.
Anyone know where I stand on this one? I'm sure it could possibly get back in but it can no way get down. |

i would be surprised if it coukdnt get back down of its own accord ...ive seen many cats up trees etc that appear to be stuck but they always seem to get down somehow ...well ive never seen a cat skelton up a tree anyway. with regard to the window and storm do any neighbours have a mobile number for them to find out if a friend or family member has a spare key ...very nice of you to try and help out though |

I thought that but it's probably about 20 feet up onto concrete and steps so it's not gonna jump unless it has to.
Have gone up and got it down left the window open and fed it on the doorstep. Got the other neighbours to watch in case they get annoyed.
It's now sat looking at me through the window. |

Personally i'd call the RSPCA and explain they have gone away and left the cat unattended and that it looks like its got itself stuck on the roof
You have to be careful now days but I would be concerned even if it did get down who's feeding it?
That way your doing what you can to help but leaving it in the hands of people who have more authority than you to go onto someone's property |

They lost my faith a couple of years ago when I rang them for help as I found a horse frozen to the ground while still alive and five others dead around them. They were not even prepared to come out and had to call a Vet myself. The RSPCA have no powers anyway without the Police alongside them anyway.
Luckily did not have to go on the property simply put my stepladder by the footpath and the cat did the rest. |

Have to agree I had a bad experience with them too, a family that lived next door to me had a little dog that used to live outside in a cat transporter box, come rain, show and sun it was in there, I went over one night, it was pissing it down and the dog was barking, I went onto their back garden to see if it was ok and the dog was stood there in this box full of water with its own poo floating about in it, if it sat or slept it was laying in its own body waste, I called the RSPCA several times about this dog and even after the dog died they still never went out
they can be good tho just depends how busy they are |

Well I would at least make the call. Surely they will respond to an abandoned animal. |

Well done for looking out for the cat - he/she probably appreciates it greatly. You could try the Cat's Protection League - they're sometimes better than the RSPCA and can give you some guidance. We do cat rescue ourselves, shame we're not near you - we'd come round and get it and sort things out with the police later, once it's safe. |

"Happy ending Cat lady next door will have the cat and if they come back will give it back. "
Well done.
The next thing is that the poor little thing will keep trying to get back into it's old place.
Hope it settles down soon. Good to see such nice people about. |

If the owners have left the cat then maybe a phone call to the local cat protection league would be more beneficial than the RSPCA as they would care for said moggie |
