Getting young childrens' ears pierced

Just wondered what peoples views are on this. My daughter is coming up to 3 after Xmas and has never even mentioned it and I personally would never have them done until shes old enough to ask and fully understand the procedure. I regularly see young babies with earrings and although it can look pretty its not something I feel I would choose for my child.

I hate this. Babies with studs in is just wrong. I think they should be older when they get them done.

No no and no. Slippery slope to becoming a chav. Next stop the abortion clinic.

Its child cruelty now less. Those who have it done are shocking as its done for them not the kids.

At six... NO NO NO

They are not responsible for the decisions they make its the parents responsibility.... so Dont let them until they are of an age that understands the implications.... ideally 16 bit more likely to happen younger

I'd make them wait till they were 16 but I'm just a grumpy auld b*s*ard.

Regardless of age, I'd make sure it comes out of their pocket money.

I don't like it on young babies either.

Someone I know had her girls done at a couple of months old, said she was less likely to pull and play with them while they were healing at that age.

But I wouldn't ever want to inflict any unnecessary pain on a young child they have enough with teething, injections etc. let them have them when they are old enough to make a decision like that. I'd say 10/11 before secondary school is reasonable

I allowed my daughter to have them done when she was six. She had been asking since she was 5, I told her it would hurt lots but if she still wanted them done she could for her birthday. I wouldn't have got them done until she was old enough to decide for herself.

Me either, my daughter asked when she was 14 and felt she was old enough by then to take care, keep area clean etc

Wow, my daughter (if someone is ever silly enough to breed with me) are probably going to hate me; I reckon at least wait until their teens (13).

Babies/toddlers is just plain wrong.
