Lol yeah when I was 13 I had a red light bulb in my bedroom and always had my mates coming in and out so the old couple that lived across the road reported us thinking we was running a knocking shop
My mum was mortified |

Annoyingly yes, it was the 1st of a month and my car was parked on the street. PCSOs knocked on to tell me my tax was out of date. The new disc was in an envelope in the dining room, so told them wait there....... Walked past them and put the new one in my window. They got a sarcastic "Satisfied?" As I walked back into my house. |

Slightly off topic but....
L always says she would like to get stopped on the way home after a night out so she can answer the "Where have you been tonight" question with "At a swingers party officer" |

At least he knocked on your door and told you. Could have got you ticketed instead and hopefully give you a sarcastic "satisfied" as well |

I've not had one knock at my door but I was pulled over while on my push bike for "aggressively peddling". Apparently because I was going at the same speed as the traffic I was causing a problem because the traffic could not overtake me.
I don't see the logic...? |

One very hot summers day we had our car parked a little close to corner. Our son had just been born and we had just got him back from the hospital that afternoon. Ju was feeding him and a policeman knocked on the door. I invited him in. He said a neighbour had complained about our parking. When I explained what had happened he said , right you have got until next Sunday to move that car (it was a Wednesday). Unfortunately he didn't tell us which neighbour had phoned. |

As long as the tax is paid before the old disc expires you have 14 days in which to put it on the car. |

If they'd been that concerned they could have called it in to check.
Fines for untaxed cars are sent automatically anyway so it hardly essential for PCSOs to "police" it. And on the first day of the month bothering someone at home is a bit off. If he'd passed the owner standing with the car that would be different.
I'd have been annoyed being disturbed at home too.
But anyway, my point was that a ticket could not have been issued. |

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum |
My daughter used to run with a bit of a wild crowd so I had the police round a couple of times when she was younger. Nothing serious though - childhood shenanigans. She luckily grew out of that crowd fast.
I came home from a work trip once to two note from the police. One said '*daughters name* please ring NYP on *number* as we are concerned about you'. The second said 'Sorry, wrong *daughters name*. Please disregard previous note.' I nearly had a heart attack! I wonder if my neighbours think I've done away with her as she left home a few months ago. |

No your right ticket couldn't have been issued in this case and pcso's where more than likely being arsholes but showing them tax disc would have have been more of a put down than being sarcastic IMHO |

Fair point but being sarcastic to them just puts on they're radar. Show them the new disc, explain the law and let them look small |

Couple of yes ago, had a couple of cops armed with tasers knock on my door enquiring about someone threatening some kids with an axe.
"This axe officer? "
I'd caught a bunch of teenage kids trying to break into my garage so chased them off with an axe!
little bastards complained to their parents and parents called the police! |

Bloody silly thing to do and i got a caution out of it, never had any more trouble though and the policeman who gave me a lift home from the station gave me his personal phone number in case of any repercussions from the scrote family |

Like you said first thing to hand but in this day and age the victim can soon become the accused |
