What are peoples view about an amnesty. I was blocked a few times when I joined over two years ago now. I was niave and probably said the wrong things.
I think all blocks should be lifted after a year as people change and should be allowed to repent and try again |

"God no, some of my blocks are there cos someone got a bit annoying but some are there for a DAMN good reason. "
I have removed a couple of mine recently though having seen people in a different light.
Some are staying put though. |

Silly is subjective.
Some of my blocks are because people got annoying others because people got offensive and abusive.
Hindsight is a glorious thing but consider it from the recipients point of view. |

Those who have blocked me tend to be those who got abusive at being rejected then ran lol
If anyone else has blocked me I wouldn't know, must be people I'd not contact anyway as not noticed any. |

No way!
Some of mine are because people were abusive, some because they play bare (as seen on pics or veris), some because they send constant friends invites and various other reasons.
It was my choice to block them and I should decide if I want them unblocked! |

Hmmmmmmmmm the Op looks like trouble. Blocked!!!
Only joking.
Happy the way it is to be honest only really have people who pester of get abusive if rejected. It's rarely used but a useful tool to have. |

I block for two reasons obe if they become a paib and secondly if either they are not what i am looking for or they say same to ne.
This way it prevents at later stage inadvertently me sending a message.
As for block amnesty i do not think its of any use to anyone. |

Nope, I've blocked a lot of people who have been stalkers or who have on their profile something like, no bi, gay, lived near a gay/bi, once watched Graham Norton, need contact us. I'm also quite sure the people who have blocked me as being a nincompoop are quite happy with the status quo, too |

"What about the people who never change? It's not a rehabilitation tool.
and how would we know if they had rehabilitated ?
We'd need a block parole board."
Mine would keep them busy for a while!
I say leave them there and let them rot! |

We only leave blocks on for as long as I think it takes for someone to get the message that they are not welcome in our mailbox so it wouldn't apply to us...but I think no to your idea, it might cause WW3 for some people if they everyone is unblocked |

Just thought I would resurrect this thread.
I may have earnt myself a blocking or two through misplaced enthusiasm. (Or pushyness)
Having served my sentence, learnt my lesson and become a lot more relaxed, I routinely unblock people. Sometimes this is good if both my or their tastes and viewpoint may have changed.
Your viewpoints please but don't say if you have or not. |

"Why are you so desperate to chat to someone who obviously blocked you for a reason?"
To ask why they were blocked in the first place? This is usually the first thing I get asked. |

"Why are you so desperate to chat to someone who obviously blocked you for a reason?"
Circumstances change, people change. Sometimes you might block someone who doesn't suit at the time or their profile doesn't interest you. You might then see them on the forums and think, hang on, they have redeemed themselves!
Forever is a long time... |

Forever is a long time..." yeap true sometimes but thats better to be a choice me make ourselves ( we have unblocked in past ) and not an automatic unblock em all after a year? |

"Forever is a long time..."
Yup, but it's sooner than forever and a day
People may change point of view, but to be honest it's up to them, if they decide to lift a block same as it's up to them to add one, no reason or explanation needed. |

"No way, I really don't want to have to re-block the 9'843 people on there every year
It would be easier to hunt them down and kill them for the dogs they are..."
Blocking, the cleaner alternative to mass murder
What if someone is blocked because they are a relative or related in some way, you would have to find out who they are each year and re-block before they spotted you. |

I don't block people willy nilly but wouldn't want those who have earned their place on my list through abuse to be "free" again. I blocked them for a reason after all. |

If this happened we would be inclined to leave. people are blocked because we wouldn't ever want to meet them. If they have been insulting once then that's enough! Just because they have changed doesn't mean that our views of them has changed too |

My block list is so long it doesn't load properly. If blocks were to be removed i would be drowned in the same kind of cr@p i was first time round with them. Blocks are there for a reason. It's a way of saying NO. |

I have an ever increasing block list, none for being offensive I may add. Mostly local because they're not what I'm looking for and vice versa and would accept it if others did the same, Just saves time all round really. I make full use of filters and the block button. So if I've blocked you now you know why |

Everyone on my block list is there for a reason... You only have one chance with me. If you've not turned up, messaged me with straight on your profile or just generally annoyed me, you're blocked. |

We had over 800 on our block list, and after badgering admin for an "unblock all" option which never materialized, it took me 3 months to clear it!
To be fair, I dont think most of them have even noticed, and we have only had to block a small handful again. |

We block people mainly in the chatrooms, but then unblock them the next day send them a message asking to be more polite. I know its strange but works for us, so at this moment list empty Connie xx |

I think most of the people on my block list wouldn't even notice or give a monkeys if I lifted the block so I doubt they are sitting there waiting for the day I take them off so they can contact me again |

I have ever only block people if I was inundated with messages from the same person unsolicitedly, or rude and insulting messages. I can't see how someone's attitude may change within a year and neither would my opinion. |
