Can we challenge the royal family?

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

I was wandering how back in the day the royal family no doubt would have claimed the throne through fighting. But now, this is quite unlikely to happen and the royal family never be challenged! Does anybody think the 'royal' spot should be offered to another family? Or be able to legally challenge the royal family for the throne?

Don't worry, I don't want to overthrow our queen, god bless her! But just thought it's wrong that we should stick with the same family

For the sake of tradition! Thoughts please.....:D

I can just see Prince Mcaulay and princess Beyonce Queen Shaz and King Daz's kids. Tourism for the royals would be as appealing as going to Grimy on a wet weekend.

Do it as a form of family jury service. Every family that gets picked has to do three years. Then at the end, bung them a couple of million and they don't need to work again. And it's still cheaper than the ones we have now.

Remember we've only got this bunch because of the abdication.

If Wallis Simpson hadn't existed, we'd have had a Monarch who was pro-German in the 30s.

I'm talking about the current family, not how they got there! I just believe I should be able to legally say to the royal family 'I challenge you for the throne!' No need for fighting, just maybe a 'thumb war' or rock, paper, scissors?

They cost you (assuming you are a tax payer) 53p last year which is a 1p rise on the year before and the royal family pretty much bring in as much tourist revenue to the country as they cost!!

Just how exactly is the revenue for tourists that only came for the royal family actually calculated? Or is it presumed so we can carry on paying them for doing nothing?

You do realise the family name is Sax-Coburg and are german descent from George the 1st.

They became Windsor at the outbreak of WW1

And yes Edward the 8th was a socialist sympathiser who agreed with some of the nazi ideals but fortunately the monarchy has no power to affect law in this country since Charles the 1st

How can one person "gang" up on anyone? It's not me with the little mob.

As for putting anyone down, er, where exactly?

I pointed out that hanged is used when referring to capital punishment. There was no insult, no putting anyone down, just a statement of fact.

I didn't realise that your mate was another of the prissy can't be seen to be wrong types that would take that as an insult.

I love the accusation of stalking though. I'm waiting for the evidence of that. I can hardly remember a damned thing he's posted, never mind followed him round the site looking for him to make a mistake.

In fact, take a look at the recent grammar police posts. You'll find me strangely absent.

No doubt some people will like to know that hanged is the correct word. That you choose to take it as an insult is interesting though.

Did you not delete your Tiger Feet profile after your ban? So those posts are out and in reality its not the issue its your grammar police action that you are clearly avoiding explaining. "

Monte, what are you on about?

What grammar police action?

GreedyThump has accused me of stalking him round to correct his grammar. I'd genuinely love to see where I've done that.

I rarely comment on people's grammar on here. Like I said, take a look at some of the threads where people were criticised, you won't find me there.

I know you have some sort of bee in your bonnet with me, and I honestly could not care less. But if you'd like to make me out to have done something wrong, at least try to make it something I have done rather than using you usual approach of throwing up a smoke-screen and then fanning it to make it look like flames.

So come on, pony up. If I am the grammar police, show me where.

"Haha, just noticed the "I don't have to prove" bit of that post.

I don't have to prove = I can't prove and I know it.

Did you not delete your Tiger Feet profile after your ban? So those posts are out and in reality its not the issue its your grammar police action that you are clearly avoiding explaining.

If I am the grammar police, show me where."

Your imagination knows no bounds!

Thump commented he was fucked off with you coming up behind him in threads to pull him up on his grammar. Which you did in this thread no matter how much you deny it its there in black and white when you pulled him up pointing out its the word hanged not hung going back 9 post to do so. Now firstly it wasn't needed it served no purpose apart from upsetting thump its clear by his reaction he felt put down and its pretty clear that is the most likely intention.

Facts you posted it and you concentrate on going for proof on other threads? Frankly thats avoidance along with the fact you fictitiously make up things about me which frankly is B/S but its a diversion tactic on your part.

Live and learn if you are unplesent to people people to the point they feel its personal and others see it then expect people reading to comment. Its the way forums work not some fictitious vendetta although I am beginning to think this nit picking on people is closer to home for you.

GT:

"I'm getting a bit fucked off with you coming up behind me in threads to pull me up on my grammar."

"this ain't the first time she has come up behind me and oddly, I don't think it's going to be the last either."

Monte:

" I know you like to gang up on people god knows you have done it often enough. "

You two have made this about other threads with the above two untrue accusations, amongst others.

I'm well aware of your tactics Monte, you're trying to drag this off topic and stir something up into nothing. How soon before you run off to the mods/admin to complain? Or get one of the gang to do it?

I posted a fact about English. Any put down has come from the imagination of GT and he made it into something it isn't by claiming I have followed him around and done this before, which is not true. That coloured people's reactions, just as it was intended to. Always fanning the smoke, you and your mob.

I'd quite happily apologise to GT for the offence that I unintentionally caused if he hadn't made a completely untrue accusation. I doubt he's man enough to admit he's wrong though and apologise to me.

Any diversion tactics being used here are yours, as usual. Enough already.

Sorry to everybody else for dragging this off topic. I've nothing more to say on the matter. Please don't let the accusations made against me colour your judgement. Feel free to look through my posting history and see for yourselves that the claims made are simply untrue. Monte subscribes to the theory that mud sticks.

I don't think we really have much choice anyway. Raising an army large enough to defeat HM's forces on the quiet would be, well, unlikely!

Sounds about right to me. Are you resisting the current royal family, a new royal family or Batonesque? Are handcuffs required? Rusty has his out on the night shift thread

Is now a good time to point out that 'hanged' and 'hung' are equally acceptable grammatically?

Unless you're talking about a cock.

Check quality British media and writers and see how many times 'hung' is used when referring to a person.

They used to be more or less interchangeable but this changed over time.

My mum always pulled me up on the "hung" "hanged" issue. I was told paintings are hung, men are hanged! But like everything else over time, grammar and pronunciation changes.

O o O oo

Wow, after reading the rest of it, it just shows you what happens if people are corected over spelling or grammar.

We don't have a rule to say we all have to spell right so please don't pull people up on it whatever your reasons as it causes mayhem and will put others off from posting.
