"EEEEK!... I watched the Arsenal -v- Stoke City game and saw the tackle that broke Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey's ankle but you couldn't see clearly what happened to the poor lad. I just looked on BBC Sports website and they have a still photo of the player and his leg. OUCH! Man, that had to hurt! His foot is at an acute angle to his leg, like 90 degrees! Poor kid. I can't say I like Arsenal at all but I am a fan of football and to see that happen is just gut-wrenching. "Nasty injury, but just a badly time tackle. The one on Robbie Savage last week was far worse because the Swansea player made no attempt to go for the ball. Worse tackle ive ever see was in the 1982 World cup when Harold Schumacher of Germany took out Battison of France with a shoulder barge and didnt even get booked. " Unbelievable! Just watched it on youtube and I can't believe Schumacher wasn't even cautioned for it. It should have been a penalty and Schumacher sent off. What a disgrace. | |||

Gascoine played in that testimonial alongside Les Ferdinand, and, to be fair to Coventry, they paid Busst's wages for the remainder of the season even though it was clear he was never going to kick a ball again. | |||

"I remember watching an American football game on telly years ago and one guy broke his leg mid calf... it was flopping about as he span through the air... they replayed it loads of times and in slow motion." Almost certainly Joe Theisman of the Washington Redskins ( i think ). I saw that in real time and numerous replays. If i recall correctly his leg was bent in 3 different directions at once. I don't think Shawcross was late going into the tackle, it was a 50/50 ball and he had every reason to go for the ball. Ramsey was also committed to winning the ball so something had to give, and unfortunately for Ramsey, it was his ankle that gave out. 9/10 times he would have been flipped out and spun in the air with nothing more than his pride bruised. It is all down to how thew ref interprets the tackle. Whether it was a mistimed tackle (as he judged it to be in the case of Ramsey/Shawcross) or whether it was a malicious attempt by one player to main another. The ref consults with his line refs if he is unsure and takes their advice into consideration before issuing any cards, red or yellow. In this incident, the ref was ten feet away and called it how he saw it: A late tackle by Shawcross that resulted in serious injury to Ramsey. ~ " Now to set the cat amongst the pidgeons. "Wasnt a terrible tackle. I wouldnt of though he would of even got sent off for it if the ref didnt see Ramseys leg first. Those kind of tough 50/50's happen every week in the EPL, and it just seems to be unfortunate for Ar****l. Wenger over reacted. Again. If it was upto him, no one would be allowed to tackle his kids. He is not able to cast his mind back to a few weeks ago when that prat Gallas put in that horrible tackle on Boltons Davis. That tackle was 10 times worse than Shawcross's.
