Advance warning to the pc brigade you may not like the following.
I read today on news site that the f a are being lambasted for all white panel and some folk are saying ethnic minorities are under represented my take on the whole positive discrimination is wrong and served its purpose by raising the whole issue.
Instead of blaming the f a in this instance of possible racial discrimination is ridiculous is it just possible the current panel are deemed the best for the job.
This is not just related to the f a but society in general. I am against proven discrimination in all walks of life but for folk to say its because they are from ethnic minority as reason for not getting the job is ridiculous as then the organisations are then pressured to take on ethic minorities because they feel under pressure and not because they are best for the role. |

I would think the panel are selected on their ability rather than their skin color. It would be a real travesty if someone was given a place on the color of their skin no matter what color it is. |

Selection should be on ability not ethnicity. What would be the point of having an ethnic minority person on the panel if they were unfit to do the job? Now I'm a firm believer in equal opportunities but not at the expense of common sense. It is said that sometimes an enthic minority should be placed in such positions due to positive discrimination but no though is given to actually how they will represent - by holding meetings and voting? No, it's representation for representation sake and I think that's farcical and doesn't help ethnic integration or inclusion. |

I think there is still a problem with racism in football definitely, how many outstanding black players have been through the premiership and how many black managers do we have? Seriously under represented infact Sol Campbell was talking about this the other day and how he is going abroad to coach because of it.

Don't understand the politics of footie and many other things.. but racism disgusts me.. and it sickens me that in this day in age.. racism and many other discriminations are still alive and kicking!! As the apparent 'intelligent species' on the planet.. too many are so damn ignorant!! |

A good rule of thumb is 'if you need a committee or a panel, you're doing something wrong' but, if you have to have one, there's much to be said for appointing people with experience in aspects of the area the panel is concerned with.
Nobody would think twice if a lawyer, an accountant, a broadcaster etc were appointed.
Surely there's a place for someone with experience of racism. Doreen Lawrence was appointed to the Lords because she had lengthy experience of racism. |

Its a huge assumption on 2 points her the first is that a fantastic footballer will make a good manager well its not the case there are many from Roy Keane, Brian Robson Ruud Gullit who didn't secondly the clubs are driven by finances and getting and staying into the premiership and they want someone who can do that the best. If you think the color of someones skin puts them off employing someone you really have no idea how things run and how much money and desire for success drives the boards in football clubs. |

Very few actually choose to go in to management. The ones that have, (like Edwin Stein) have had reasonable success in the lower divisions |

Considering that there are no problems with racism in football it is clear that the current panel are tackling it and are beyond criticism, Oh no wait, I think I may have got that wrong...

Is being black (cos it's mostly black players we're talking about) still a problem at some clubs or is being a GOOD black player enough to override any prejudice?
It's not that long ago being the wrong religion was enough to start trouble in Scottish football. |

well, if the panel was put together to find a way to try and get ethnic minorities coming through into the professional game, then yes, the make up of it is all wrong, however, it isnt, its to try and improve the future of the England national team, and on that basis, i cant see why the committee as it has been selected cant do a decent job |

The question is, could it do a better job with someone who has personal experience of why young black boys don't/ can't get more involved in football so they can progress on and up to international level? |

I think if you think racism doesnt exist in football anymore your on another planet.
Many many footballers have spoken out about racism in football and its still ongoing because football is full of the 'old school dinosaurs' in top positions such as the fa.
You only need to look at recent incidents like with John Terry and Anton Ferdinand to show racism is still alive and well, the default reaction to this is to start screaming its pc gone mad and deny deny its mere existance.
Sol Campbell wrote a really good piece and black managers and there was a documentry on BbC3 a year or so ago very informative. |

put the reason the committee has been set up is NOT 'how can we make the national tea more diverse' just how can we make it better? |
