My task for this evening is to put together a huge flat pack wooden toy kitchen.

Me, screwdrivers and flat pack are not friends.

Normally I would have a couple of alcoholic beverages to ease the pain but as I'm not drinking it will be diet Pepsi...

So, if after about 7.30 you hear nothing from me I'm buried under a pile of wood and would appreciate it if someone could come dig me out!!!

I'm useless! The instructions say 45 mins to an hour but someone else I know had the same one and she said it took her father in law nearly 4 hours!!

It is. But I've got a big empty cupboard in my hallway that I can hide it in. I just want to get it assembled so I know the bits are all there. Lol x

In my experience women are quicker with flat pack because they READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!

Well it depends on your definition of space. I have 2 cupboards in my hall. I have taken everything out of one this morning and put it in the other, Xmas tree, decorations, ironing board etc. that's now all piled high with everything else and is now impossible to open the door without everything falling out. Lol.

The other one will be full of kitchen. So both those cupboards are now out of action till after Xmas.. lol. I'm lucky tho, my flat is pretty big. X

I have a draw in the kitchen im afraid to open in case i can not close it again.. haha

My ironing board, xmas tree etc are stuffed in my bedroom along with a bookcase that doesnt fit in the front room. My bedroom is no longer the boudoir it should be, but the dumping ground for 'stuff'

But going back to your original post, its reminded me that i should perhaps treat myself to an electric screw driver.

i long for mexican pine or oak furniture, but until a lotto win.. flat pack from 'argoose' will do me

Good luck! I have a big tool box and I take on anything. My tip is- if it doesn't go together, smack the fuck out of it with a hammer.

Just opened the big box to find.. A slightly smaller box!

Maybe I ordered the wrong thing and it'll be like those Russian dolls with the boxes getting smaller and smaller until I get to a tiny kitchen for a dolls house!

The most important thing to do is to throw away the instructions - then you'll be fine!

As someone who may or may not know what a screwdriver is for, I would have been happy to offer you some advice on wielding it were it not for the fact that that I cannot post anypersonal experiences. So good job you managed it.

Dont post how you did it.

Well done. This reminds me of watching Stephen Fry's first ever attempt at putting together a flat pack desk. He looked like he was about to have a heart attack
