Was having a chat with guy the other day about me going to Webley to watch some rugby. I was moaning that they didnt serve cider (how crap is that ffs!!) and he mentioned that most football stadiums dont serve alcohol on match days.
This got me wondering about why football fans and rugby fans are so different. Each have a deep passion for the game yet football fans are often segregated to the point of letting the away fans leave before the home fans but rugby fans sit side by side with the opposition fans. |

Maybe it's something to do with the old saying?

As we watched the rugby last night much the same conversation took place between my partner and I.
Now he's a real fottie fan and has been all of his life but his comment and i know i am going to get some flack for this "Rugby fans are more cultured".
I used to visit my son at Cardiff when he was at uni there and on match days too. I have to say that i never ever saw any problems at all and its a great place to be inside or outside the stadium and the atmosphere is great.

well watching scotland just now makes me think why i bother watch them play
just 1 word for them *****
so i stick with the round ball
even though were crap with this as well but new manager can change this for the better |

Football went tribal for some reason in the 60's i really don't know why. I am guessing there is more vitriol when winning in football but not always. And yep seen punch ups at rugby too but far far less. It is down to a minority and i guess the minority that cause hassle don't do it at rugby matches. |

I do have to say as a football fan... yep i go as often as i can, season ticket holder etc...... i do think that non footie fans....armchair supporters etc....sensationalise what goes on nowadays.....yes..there was a time when there was a lot of trouble at matches, and yes you do get the odd ones that like to start trouble, but it aint half as bad as non footballing peeps think!!
Try going to a match and seeing for yourselves, its fun!!!!

When I were a lass.....( cue dry ice machine....and sepia tones lol)
My dad and mum and all 3 of us kids used to go to footy matches, it was a family day out. Even my dad staunch supporter that he is won't go to matches now. |

i used to pay footie at school i'll have you know - tore me ACL ligament for the privelidge

I'm a rugby supporter for the last 22 years, getting into after moving to a village & made friends with a group of pals at the local pub who were diehards.
Looking back now to when I was a Notts Forest supporter in the 'good old days' of Brian Clough etc. seems a million years ago.
But after England's loss against Ireland today I am loosing the will to live |
