I know it may seem trivial to some but if you message someone and sign off with your name is it ok for those to reply shortening it? Just a little niggle, perhaps should have had more sleep?

Well my name is actually long so it gets shortened all the time (real name and profile name)
I've seen many variations of it qk (previously qkm) quietly, kinky, as long as I know it's aimed at me then I don't mind.
Admitted having kinky shouted to me in a club did cause me to
In the 'text' situation I even sign off with initials, either s or qk/qkm.
I only ever sign off with my full name in formal situations. |

Interesting to know what you would shorten Paul to.... (no its not a challenge).
I get called allsorts a lot of them unrepeatable.
My group of friends includes three called Richard, one we call Rick, one Richy, and one actually prefers Richard, saves confusion and it is what they are all happy with.
but no I wouldn't shorten anyones name unless I know they were happy with that ! |

Well, my names Jared (Ja-rudd pronounced), but I get J, JJ, Jez, Jezza, Jezzarius, Jezmin, Jezzamina, Jezzy J, Jar-head and occasionally Gerrard. :/
I really don't mind what people call me on the whole though. How can I when half my damn nicknames don't even sound anything like my name? I sign my emails and stuff simply J. |

i write it on all forms, and use it when creating accounts etc (facebook) yet people just automatically call me kim, kimmi, kimbo
im used to it. but do prefer Kimberly
think i get more annoyed when people spell it wrong haha |
