Figures show criminals are twice as likely to be given a custodial sentence in Scotland than south of the border. 8% banged up in England whilst 15% banged up in Scotland. So is England soft on crime or perhaps the Scots stricter? |

I dont think stats alone can even begin to look at this.
How many were re offenders, what were their family/private circumstances. What lead them to the event. Which judge.
Prison space, 'public demand' priority, cost, plea, it's why ruling by consensus would never work and it's up to a judge or panel of 3 to decide the individual's consequence of the action. |
