Fake profiles

Good morning all,

well it's my first full week on FAB and i'm still not 100% sure how to spot fake profiles, yes some are completely useless and seem to have been set up either by a novice, whereas some by people that are that little bit more shrewd.

Also, have the more seasoned Fabbers developed a sixth sense of sorts for bogus profiles, and do these fake profiles tend to pop up at certain times, like weekends?

I ask this as I have just clicked on latest members and 99% of them have no photos and a very limited profile description, which I know speak for themselves but I guess i'm asking how do you spot ones that seem that little bit more genuine??

thanks in advance

If it seems too good to be true (21 year old female with surprisingly professional pics that have been airbrushed who gets straight to the sex talk) it may well be.

Having said this I have recently met someone who got accused of fake pics and was delighted to write a veri confirming that they're genuine.

Check for verifications, check the date on the veris - if they have two that are from over a year ago but claim to be meeting regularly that might be a warning.

The latest profiles will almost certainly, in some cases at least, be awaiting thw pics being approved. And the text being brief is indicative of people joining whentthey've got home from the pub. I don't see how either of those make them fake though.

The simplest ways to deal with potential timewasters are to remember that if it looks to good to be true it probably is and trust your instincts and ignore anyone that you have even the slightest suspicion of.

You'll get the hang of it mate, it takes a little time and you'll still get caught out occasionally. Best advice is to check their verifications are from meeting in person and offer to make phone contact before making any arrangements, if they start coming up with excuses then you have your answer...

All the best.

If they have great pics, but have been on the site for a while with no verifications, be suspicious.

If they seem like a nympho, but after a period of time haven't had any meets, be suspicious.

If they just seem to be playing email ping pong, rather than it leading anywhere be suspicious.

If they suggest a meet with no way of contacting them first, be suspicious.

If their photos show that they are a porn star from the mid 90's who died, but is somehow now alive and living in Preston, rather than LA, smell a rat....

I suppose verifications help but are not definitive.

Be aware you do get male's setting up couples profiles with pictures of females. Although not all are fake. Ours is set like that for hubby's job. Trust your gut instinct you'll probably be right. Claire

I'm feeling pretty pleased - just spotted a fake profile by perving the new pics.

Someone in West London is either a fake or they have a kitchen wired up to take foreign plugs and someone has been nicking their photos and posting them on image fap
