A guy died with 155mg of caffeine in blood. 10mg is lethal. Cause was eating hero energy mints. Make sure your kids are not eating them. One sweet has more caffeine than a can of red bull |

"How is that much caffeine allowed in what is essentially marketed as a form of confectionery? It must pass through outside quality assurance, surely!"

Surely something like that should not be marketed. |

"Says that he had no idea that they would of had that affect (even though by all accounts it tells you on the packet not to eat more than 5 in 24 hours) the report says he must of had 300!!!!"
He was a heavy drinker and had 1 mint.....he had cirrhosis of the liver so could not absorb it properly |

Exactly what I thought. I've read that the likes of Red Bull and Lucozade are marketed to the mainstream for the sake of larger profits even though they're dangerous and should only be for people with diabetes who need the jolt or people who have been gravely ill and have no energy to recover.
Same thing here only with the lack of liquid to get the stuff out your system faster. Sugar crushing and caffeine crashing are linked to causing not only diabetes but destroying your body's ability to take nutrients and therefore cause problems with brain, organs and bones.
Of course, people who want an energy boost to get over the booze and late nights dont want to have to think for themselves when something seems safe enough to be on the shelf |

Oh! I've just read about 6 different versions of the story and none said that!
They do sound lethal. If I drink coffee after 2pm I can't sleep! |

Too much caffeine and I get heart palpitations and lack of breath, even though I love coffee. But if I drink the usual amount, it will give me a good night's sleep and pretty quickly |
