I am doing a bit of research reguarding aortas and basically anything to do with the heart and most things that I am reading differs to what I have seen in person. Anyone here got any examples on what to do when diagnosed with a "heart" or a similar problem or even what not to do? Apart from smoking/bad diet and binge drinking.

Regular checkscwith a gp at least twice a month.

Daily blood pressure checks, small home machines are very accurate and not expensive at all

Making sure you keep the correct dosage of your medication at all times

Avoid stressful situations if possible.

Be prepared for days when you simply wont function and keep things handy to keep you occupied.

Keep a positive outlook, that will do more for you than any medication

Any patients of ours who are diagnosed with an NSTEMI or CCF. Are referred to cardiac rehab for the first snd heart failure nurse for the latter. We do phase one on the ward.

Patients need to be given info on driving, exercise, sex etc.

When should you take care and go the extra mile so to speak when looking after yourself. Do you wait until you don't feel well in a situation before you decide you can/can't do that? Basically if you felt like your old self and done something that brings you enjoyment. If it didn't make you ill at all and you thought it made you stronger as you were more relaxed and de stressed afterwards. Would you stop doing it. If you were told right at the very start don't do it at all as you will suffer like you did before you got diagnosed? Sorry if that's a bit vague.

Are you his doctor?? Lol

I'd speak to professionals but also join forums such as NHS choices etc where people with the same condition swap tips and experiences etc remember the professionals don't always get it right (my experience with diabetes has taught me this) so you kind of have to become an self taught expert so you can question things that don't seem right.
