Mice are lovely little things - it won't hurt you. Make sure it has an escape route to outdoors and put on some music with thumpy bass.

Catch it alive but release it some distance from your house. Poor wee thing. What did Burns say;

"Wee, sleekit, cow'rin, tim'rous beastie, O, what a panic's in thy breastie! Thou need na start awa sae hasty, Wi' bickering brattle! I wad be laith to rin an' chase thee, Wi' murd'ring pattle!"

It won't hurt you, honest

My Staffy is class at catching mice but we're in Devon lol so not much help.

I caught two by hand in my last house, they thought the were hidden but their tails were sticking out so picked them up and dropped them outside when I was walking the dog...

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

You have to be brave and get off the chair. Get a broom and sweep it out of the house. Or, get off the chair, get out of the room and shut the door.

My cat brings in live mice all the time. You can usually get a tupperware pot over them and just slide some card under and put them out like a spider! Mind you those are field mice - housemice may be more canny.........
