Looking for some advice please, my telly has broken when I turn it on with the switch at the back there is a cracking noise it flickers on and then turns off and won't stay on, anyone know what it maybe? I'm thinking maybe a blown fuse inside the telly? It's 3 years old would it be worth trying to save?

Wellingborough

Check the wiring inside the mains plug i.e. no loose wires, and then that the mains cable is securely inserted into the television.

This. Especially the mains cable inserted into socket at back of telly. If its at all loose, you will get some power, but not enough to keep it going.

unfortunately they are designed to last between 3 and 5 years.you might not believe it but the last thing to happen to the modern tv before getting put into the box is that it gets age enhanced, ie an electrical surge through. bin it and buy new one.

Wake it up with a cup of scalding coffee. Failing that, try a hammer.

Flatscreens can cost a couple hundred quid to fix mate! Sainsburys has a deal on just now. A 42", 1080 full hd, 3d telly with 4 pair of glasses for 280quid!

It's probably the power inverter. They can be replaced but its not really worth it.

Yup, most likely the power supply module on the fritz. Depending on the model it could be economically viable to repair.

Its a little known fact that all electrical appliances run on smoke, because once it is released, they stop working....
