I believe its an American thing, but did you have one or have you attended many?
My friends gave me a secret one which was lovely and i've since been to 3 others. |

I didn't have a baby shower in the conventional sense as I hate that kind of thing but half a dozen friends that live all around the country came down and surprised me in a restaurant, we all had dinner and a good natter and they gave me some vouchers from all the people on a forum I used to moderate which is how we met x |

we were all yapping about baby names and i was fed up of being the frumpy one so made them stuff a balloon up their tops for the duration of the evening |

I knew that there was a topic on this somewhere
Today i went to my first Baby Shower, In a way i thought it was a good idea to be given bits and pieces for the baby.
But we played this game where we all had to try 10 jars of baby food and guess what they were, It was disgusting and everything tasted the same apart from the puddings which was quite refreshing after sampling a baby Curry dinner. No wonder these children cry and spit them out.
Another thought is that we are becoming so American that we will be having the "Stars and Stripes" incorporated into our own flag at this rate |

One of my work colleagues keeps trying to persuade me I need one. I think it's really distasteful - you're basically saying "buy my baby a present".
If someone wants to buy my baby a present, that's absolutely fair enough and it will be gratefully received, but I don't want anyone feeling forced into buying me something.
