Samuel l jackson pushing for guys to start taking notice of their bodies and GOING TO THE DOCTORS when things dont seem right. (cancer awareness)

Its a great campaign and fellas, go get things checked when something doesnt seem right, or you have an ache etc.

and ladies........push your men to go ....

better it be something and nothing than the other option.

Glasgow

Lots of GP surgeries have a well man clinic. Get into the habit of going at least once a year, a bit like an MOT.

I have to hold .y hands up and say I'm bad at that. Mainly as I'm away a lot and fitting a drs appointment in can be hard work.

Leave it long enough and it goes away anyway.

Wrong wrong wrong.........

it may not go away and having a family history of cancer ,both female and male.

Makes this answer very frustrating.

It may take 10 mins of embarrassment with a doctor but that may save a whole life .....

GET IT CHECKED FELLAS

"I hate the bloody doctors!

"

So what, they may not like sticking their hands where they do etc.but they do it.

Think........they may see all sorts on a daily basis, the great unwashed ,those with bad halitosis, things rotting...... etc

But .........

If they are good and you are good by going for a check up.........

you may be here for a very long time.

Fair exchange is no robbery

I can only advise go to the doctors as soon as you see or feel something wrong

I went after I spotted some blood in my urine

3 weeks after that I was diagnosed with renal cancer & 4 weeks later had my right kidney removed

I was diagnosed early and needed no chemo or radio - so far ct scans have shown no further signs of cancer

If I had delayed seeing the doctor the outcome could have been a lot different

There are no excuses for not checking.

in Lancashire

have to admit that in my 20's and 30's I would be of the 'it will sort itself' mindset and usually went when the OH pushed me..

get a bit older and not an issue, GP's don't get embarrassed so why should blokes..

hear of too many horror stories of guys not getting stuff looked at and it goes very badly wrong..

so men, man up and get checking and checked out..

Last year I lost a close friend to prostrate cancer all because he was too embarrassed to get checked.

It was a wake up call for all of his male friends.

If in doubt get checked out!

AND don't forget to check your testicles regularly too (I'm happy to assist any chappie who feels he needs a second opinion )

"Movember is coming up and it's a great way to raise awareness for men's health"

I'll be growing my Mo again this year

My father and one of my uncles have both been through prostate cancer successfully.

Another had had terrible intestinal problems ...

So I'm not ashamed to say I get a six month check up to make sure everything is in working order

Currently Faraway

I guess we men daftly enough think like "oh I'm not gonna bother with doctors just for a bit of pain". I suppose unconsciously we think it is more like women to react like that, but we should really get a reality check 'cause lots of curable illnesses could actually be cured in the end rather than costing lives x

Don't get me wrong, if it was something I was very worried about I would get it checked. Aches and pains don't worry me and are normally sporting.

Aside from a bout of manflu and a few aches and pains which already know the diagnosis of, I've been fit as a fiddle and not even considered going to the doctors.

I do agree though, men should have regular well man check-ups especially when approaching 40 and beyond.

Generically no.

But my point is you don't know what that "ache or pain" is until you get yourself checked out do you

im not meaning to be rude but i would of thought if you have signed up to this site you would be going to the doctors reguarly not once a year. the first time going to the doctors about this is a bit nerve racking for us blokes but once you have done it the first time it gets easyer. almost like riding a bike. you should never forger to go.xx

It's a bit strange that guys who are more than happy to attend their local GUM/ STI clinic every few months are reluctant to see their GP once a year 'just in case'.

Been there, done that, had the orchidectomy!

I love the way blokes go all quiet when they talk about testicular cancer. When ever the subject comes up I always tell them what happened to me, it seems to make them think it is ok to talk about it

Going to the GUM clinic in some areas is a right of passage.
