Woo Hoo I was right!!!

We went away for the night last Friday and left our babysitter in our house. Came back Saturday to be told "your house is colder than mine" she who has no carpets and painted walls and thin curtains never puts her heating on, compared with my carpeted thick curtained painted walled home which is normally always warm.

THE DAMN BOILER HAD PACKED UP AGAIN!!!

Called out the gas engineer and low and behold he found a fault (will wonders never cease??) ordered the part came back yesterday and guess what something else is wrong "prob been wearing out for months love thats why you have had so many problems" FINALLY someone who took the time to actually look at the damn boiler and see whats wrong!!!

Now the only problem is we have no hot water no heating other than the gas fire and 2 fan heaters left by the gas engineer

But the point is I knew something was wrong with the boiler all along but no one listened til if finally went crash bang wollop no heating

I was told to "lightly press" just under the button for relighting it cos one of the things wrong was the ignition switch was naffed. Now whats a light press?? He (the gas guy) showed me and I still had to thump it over and over again to get hot water dishes are piling up so are the clothes and I cant get the damn thing back on since the guy left yesterday

With no idea when he will be back to fix it

The guy phoned up from my kitchen to get the part ordered but the office say they dont have any, and are ordering it. BUT I have dealt with them before they think its funny to leave my family with no hot water for over 2 weeks - well thats how long it took last time.

Steven says they have til Monday morning and if we aint heard anything he is gonna phone them and moan every day til the guy comes back lol they have no idea how much he can moan (without losing his temper) cos I cant phone them I get angry and get hung up on

fooking look on his face was wonderfull

he came and fitted it reluctantly ,

Jim I have told my mother in law the same thing over and over again cos the guy she uses is a member of the family and charges her the earth (what happened to family rates??) I am sick of saying phone out a company from the yellow pages cos they will turn up when they say they will, not keep you hanging for days and days or take out British Gas homeplan insurace thing cos they include a yearly service.

As for my boiler I dont own my home I rent so costs me nothing just a wait, but this company is beter than the last one. At least this guy didnt break the boiler when servicing it!!!

little house on the praire

Its aweful when it breaks down in the winter. Try wearing a top tucked into your skirt or trousers then another top. Wear a hat. If towels are cold before you have a bath put them in the tumble dryer for a bit first. Good luck

we sit at night with the kids in their warm jammies and houserobes socks slippers, and fleecy throws over them so they are plenty warm but I am frozen to the bone I still havent warmed up from last time the thing broke

O o O oo

For anyone who is due house insurance, get an extra bit of insurance that covers gas boiler/electrics/drains and roof if anything breaks down or needs repairing in an emergancy.

A lot of companys are doing it free with the insurance but it only costs around £60 a year anyway.

We had no hot water, phoned the company up, they sent a man out the next day, he ordered the part , came back the day after to fix it....and no bill to pay , great stuff

I have been telling my in laws to do that for ages - well ever since they got new heating and boiler put in, but cos I dont own my own home I cant know anything about it, can I

Steven even went online and showed his mum how to sign up for the coverage (with their existing insurance company) but nope still calling out Stevens cousin to charge them the earth for something most would only charge half the earth

Is a drain problem that cuased the flooding at my house....insurance cover even included the field drain....PHEW!!!! gonna cost 10-15k to re direct the drain from under the house, and by time i'm allowed to move back in it'll have cost around 60k plus to move the drain and restore the house...luckily not many belongings damaged

So am now a big fan of extra cover

The gas man he says YES it works til Monday when he will replace the fan, cos that looks like its gonna go next

Would have saved the housing assoc money if they had just replaced the whole thing way back at the start when I first complained about it!!!

BUT I HAVE HEATING AND HOT WATER dancing round the living room here
