This may not help you get laid...but...do you know anything about Raptors?, there has been one in and around my garden, for over a week now.
Is it going to eat my cat?????
Floyd sleeps on the windowsill, and this bird has just flew at him. Landing on the outside of the window, my cats hissing away at it and the bird just pecks the window and flies off. He's been acting odd for about the same time, the birds been around.....so whilst the magpies, crows and other birds attack the Raptor, is he going after cats???
Anyone know? |

Sounds like the rare species of Troll Bird.
It would shit bricks if the window wasn't there. The window is used for bird trolling like the internet is used for human trolling.
Hello Cate by the way, I have missed you. |

Super...supper...death of a family pet....lol?!!
Why not say, "I'm also attention seeking", whilst you're mocking, 99% of threads turn to shit, shame it happens on serious note. (granted not to pet owners)

Having Jesses on its feet means it could be almost anything because it will be an escapee from an aviary or someones pet, rather that a native bird. You haven't indicated the size of it, but various shades of brown and a yellow (or at least yellow edged) beak sounds a bit like a Golden Eagle but they are bloody huge, and if it is your cat is really in the shit. |

Its very big, I said to a friend it was an eagle, Welsh Mountain Zoo, is where I saw similar, on flying demos and it was an eagle....when in flight it easily spans 3 or 4 foot...its a biggun :/ a lad in the street, said he used to see a lady on the local park, with one (oddball) so hopefully she may also use the local shop...and come collect her cat killer |

"Contact your local bird of prey place and they probably can help come and get it. "
I did do, they didn't seem to fussed to be fair, just took details, to report it on their system, I may give them another try, or see if the RSPCA can do anything. |

"Share it on ebay with a picture? Sounds like a falcon or a hawk rather than an eagle. "
Why Ebay? Is there a section for cat eating birds?
But I guess I could try gumtree, to advertise its in this area, thanks. |

As already suggested if it has jesses on it is an "owned" bird. Unfortunately you are not legally allowed to take matters into your own hands and destroy it. The RSPCA have no specific knowledge of birds of prey and are often worse than useless when presented with such. I'm disappointed to hear that your local bird of prey centre won't come out and help. When I worked at such a place one of us would always respond to such a call. Although not domesticated, an owned bird is usually loved and wanted. I'd be devastated if any of mine went astray.
My next best suggestion is to contact the Independent Bird Register on 0161 790 5613. They hold a register of birds reported lost and found and try to match them. They also have a list of local falconers and bird of prey keepers across the UK who will go to help in a situation such as yours.
Good luck!! |

We've had kestrels in a lot and owls adjacent to use, but the cats have been fine - I was a little concerned to start with. If the birds owned by someone, and lost, then I'd advertise that you have one - of course, it may be from miles away, but could also be a local bird. I don't like to scare animals, so if a cat was in danger, I'd keep it in, rather than try to scare the raptor away, or get the cat hurt. |

"Maybe put out some food for it, and it'll leave the cat alone."
This would be hard to do unless you know exactly what it is as every raptor eats different food. Also raptors only eat fresh meat - which will attract other predators to your garden. And birds of prey are natural hunters - food lying out will not necessarily mean it would leave alone something in its field of vision - especially if that animal is a natural predator in its wild state. |

Thank you, I will call them in the morning, the RPSB and RSPCA have been no help and Floyd is still being eyed up |

I thought all was okay, till it landed on the outside of the window, where the cat was lay sleeping....and then I realised why he has been acting so skitty, the last week....he is now housebound, till I see if someone can claim it. And as earlier suggested, putting out food will only attract other wildlife, I don't wish to, I have a feeder for small birds, but my cat! is not on the menu!! lol |

How're you getting on with the bird? Another thought if the IBR can't help is your local police wildlife liaison officer. Some are better than others.
If you are still stuck I can pm you my phone number and if you don't me knowing where you are I can try and find you someone to come out and try and catch it up.

Does the bird have anything on its legs, any leathet bits or a ring. If so it is owned by someone, ring either the RSPCA or a local Bird of prey centre they might know something about the bird.
Give the police a ring as well, when my Harris Hawk got away I rung the police told them a few hours later they rung me.
Some Raptors take animals as large as a Hare so a cute cat will be on its menu. |

Cate has already tried rspca and local bop centre without help. It does have jesses and I've already suggested she contact the IBR or her local police.
It could be almost anything in which case who knows what size its preferred prey is, but even a wee male harris could cause damage to a cat.

Type in Harris Hawk into Google images. Is it one of those? They are commonly kept by someone who practices Falconry.
It would have to be a pretty big or very hungry bird of prey to go for your cat though. The Common Buzzard is pretty big and that wouldn't, but then it does just sit waiting to eat road kill most of the time. |

By the sounds of it, the bird was last flown near where you are as the birds when lost got to the last place they know.
maybe put an add in gumtree, if you did thibk of giving it food try steak. They only last about 5 days without food. |

Sounds like a golden eagle.
I llived in the country & left my garage doors open one night & went in there to water some seedlings the following day, not seeing the bugger perched on a ladder. Frightened the shit out of me when I got too close & I thought the roof was caving in on me when it took flight!! Golden Eagle. |
