near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack!

I`ve always got feeders and other stuff out in the garden for all of the birds that visit me.

I have several favourites including Reed Buntings which come up from the river when it gets really cold, Sotted Woodpeckers who seem to come all year round, Thrushes although they`re very much on the decline now and Yello Hammers that come in from the fields. My very favourites though have to be the Long Tailed Tits that come mob-handed and seem to visit each house in turn on their quest for food.

Do you have any favourites?

There used to be a sparrow hawk which nested in a chimney stack a few doors down form me that was amazing when it was hunting around the small bit of wooded waste ground at the bottom of my garden.

The blackbird which nested on a shelf in my old shed was great for the kids to watch this spring too.

I was living in a house this time last year that had a lovely long and fairly wild garden as well as several large fruit trees.

We got lots of fieldfares when the apples fell for quite a while which was something a bit different!

Like you OP i like the long tailed tits the most for beauty, but i have a very clever blackbird who i can listen to for hours, hes been in my garden for at least 6 years now and develops his song each year, he includes some urban sounds, like sirens, central locking sound and ringtones! x

Love the long tailed tits too, but my fave is the robins and blackbirds who got tame and eat from me. The robin sees my arm out and flies over onto it, lovely.

Another that likes the long tailed tits. I also like the goldfinches with their bright gold / yellow bar on their wings and red cheeks they really catch your eye. Siskins are nice too. Whilst not the prettiest of bird I've also had a black cap visiting my garden.

The most in awe garden bird moment was when I was stood looking into my garden and a sparrowhawk swooped down and landed on top of my washing line which was only about 10 feet in front of me. It was a male with lovely markings. That was amazing!

The little birds are back at my feeder. I made an ingenious contraption to keep the pigeons off it and it seems to have worked. I'm happy. Love the little birds.

That contraption wouldn't be a steel heel by any chance???

I love robins. Always thought they were one of the nicest looking birds we regularly get.

Last year we lived in a house with a garden, and we kept getting these long tailed tits that would cling on to our Windows (we had those cross patterns on them with a little strip of something the birds could hold on to). This was even funnier given that we have cats who are all indoor cats... The birds would fly right at them, and then just sit there. Cheeky buggers.

My favorite is the robin ..... see al sorts in the garden as we put out home made fat balls full of seeds and nuts plus the normal seed feeders.

But the robin my favorite he's or she's such a friendly bird it now takes mealworms directly from my hand.

Love the little cheeky chappy
