I only read Clear and Present Danger but loved the film too. Clancy impacted books, films and videogames in a huge way with his crazy attention for detail, yet I dont think he'll have a replacement.
Only thing comparable is that Clancy was a virtual Michael Crichton of military and government intelligence despite never working for either. |

"Spent my whole life in the military and his books just worked for me, Red Storm Rising was just outstanding considering the World at that time  "
What got me was how futuristic the weaponry seemed in his novels and yet it was all the brand new tech that most if not all people outside of the military knew about. Sometimes though, he really was ahead of his time, but a lot of it was on the money.
I get the feeling the US military borrowd a few ideas from him |
