All this compensation culture males my blood boil, ok if someome os injured because of anothers negiligence then yes, but kids geting injured while playing, bloody hell if my parents had claimed everytime I got a scrape as a kid they would have been millionairs and I'm sure that applies to everyone else. |

What happened to "normal childhood injuries"? When I was a kid you fell out trees and raced home to moan about the ripped top not the arm at a funny angle your mum slaped a plaster over your elbow and sent you back out to play.
The amount of injuries my brother got when growing up if my parents had sued the councils (most happened on pavements or the local parks) we would have been super rich but all she ever did was say "well that will teach you to be more careful wont it??"

One school I know were sued by a lad who had climbed over the school gates when it was shut, climbed on a roof and fell through a skylight.......he won and the school had to pay out for negligence. |

when my son was 7 years old he slipped hence the word slipped off a wet climbing frame and broke his leg
which resulted in hin being in a full leg cast for 13 weeks and in a wheel chair and a below the knee cast for 6 weeks
now i could have gone to our local council and told them i was putting in a claim
but at the end of the day it was an accident and the climbing was wet as it had been raining no body fault
thats why i cant understand why people feel the need to claim for things like failing over in a sports day parents race and breaking an ankel at the end of the day it was an accident |

Well lots with a different attitude to you which is a shame. Real injuries that cause long term probs I have no issues with claiming. If only more were like you maybe council taxes would be lower. |

"this countrys getting to much like america where as we all know its a sue sue nation!"
No surprise really, Ronald Reagan's influence over Thatcher has a lot to answer for
This compensation culture has come about due to the almost abolition of the legal aid system |

ok it was a accident
the climbing frame wasnt faulty just wet
and although it was a pain after the accident 3 days in hospital because docs coundt decided if they were going to pin his leg but thankfully they didnt
13 weeks in a full leg cast and wheel chair bound that was a night mare because he couldnt do the simplest thing for himself because he coudnt stand on his leg
6 weeks in a below the knee cast that was better as he could use crutches and get about
but what i am trying to say is if the climbing frame had been faulty or damage and had caused my son's accident yes i would have put a claim in as it would have been a health and safty issue
but to claim because my son had fell of a wet climbing frame seems a bit daft to me
yes the money would have been nice because i had to take a lot of time off work to see to his needs
but maybe im too honest for my own good

I cant remember which council or how much but I remember hearing somewhere that councils earmark x amount (I think about 40%) of the budget for legal claims instead of fixing things.
WTF is that all about if you fix the pavements and roads we wont trip over and hurt ourselves therefore no need for legal claims to be settled out of court.
I also belive that more places (work places councils DWP) should do what the Americans are having to do now - send out private investigators to follow people who claim to have fallen and cant do anything for themselves - love the pics showing someone carrying loads of shopping bags for miles but they supposedly cant even wipe their own bum cos of the pain
If they did follow people and sued them for the stupid claims them people might think twice about making a scam claim.
BTW I didnt see the programme Im just going on things I have heard and seen.

"£6k for a shaving cut
Well there was a "design" fault "
Yes, the 'design fault' was that the scammer had broken his razor & carried on using it when it should have been binned. He was probrably pissed at the time. |

"I've just broken my finger typing this. Do I claim from Packard Bell , Fabswingers OR Big Bad ? Who is worth the most ? "
its all Big Bad's fault
and this type of claim culture is ridiculous! its just another example of people not being able to take responsibilty for themselves or their actions |

I had someone drive into the side of me at a junction last year and 2 weeks later they claimed for whiplash for a passenger. The investigators got cctv footage and found that there had been no passenger in the car. They then found out the driver had been involved in 9 accidents in 18 months but still could do nothing about the driver trying to claim. |

You'd be surprised what people sue for...and win.
I was on a seminar where we were discussing recent cases one involved a d*unk falling off a bar stool and suing the brewery for not telling him if he got d*unk he could fall off and hurt himself. Another involved an one eyed man...not making this up...who went to work for a local coucil cleaning their buses. He was GIVEN a pair of protective glasses but didn't wear them and some grit or something got into his good eye rendering him blind. He sued and won his claim against the authority because they didn't SHOW him how to put the protective glasses on or TELL him wearing them were mandatory!
I said I wouldn't have taken either of those cases as I thought they were non-atarters but I was in the minority: a minority of one!!! |

"The easy answer is 'Kill all the lawyers' you'd get most of the polititions too!
No win no fee has made some of them pure vultures!"
Indeed, but the real issues is a lack of reality by the courts, in letting them win on what most people would consider own fault.
Maybe there could be a voting type system, all put their claims in and people vote for who is a real victim |
