our town carnival is on the last saturday in october so we go pagan then.

To be fair, we exported it to them. Dressing up came from 'false facing' on Scotland, and the ghost stories from the Celtic Festival Samhain, which is when people toasted their ancestors and the people who died that year. The 'treat bit' came from the fact it was their last feast with fresh meat and veg before the winter set in.

Although the US have definitely added their own twist.

Apple bobbing is good fun and I like the costumes when kids trick or treat us. They never trick, and we always have loads of chocolate to give them.

Well the only thing that was horrible when i was younger was the fashion but no one ever celebrated it.

only bonfire nite ....and

I did dress my younger brother up as a guy tho
