Suddenly noticed my screen had gone a 'funny' colour - it is dusk, and my pc changes the screen colours, according to whether it's night or day.
People often get their sleep affected, because they've been exposed to blue light/colours, especially more so than other colours. How's your sleep, and do you use your screen at all hours?
I installed a tiny app, that adjusts the colours according to the time zone. Obviously other light sources can affect us too, but we're often positioned very close up to our screens (I'm no Miss Magoo, 2cms from it).
Anyone else using something similar? |

Never heard of that, sounds a good idea though. I do adjust the room lighting and have it lower when it get closer to bed time. In the winter I have bright lights in the house until 8pm or so for the same reason. |

I've found I've slept better at night, as I do often have my pc on late. Just before I wrote that, the screen went slightly more yellow: normally it's not noticeable, as it fades colours very slowly.
Like you, I put the light brilliance down through the evening, and never use top lights, only lamps or uplighters.
If I can find this app that I installed, I'll add the name. Beware blue lights if you're out and about, as bars and businesses now use them, to increase alertness and purchases. |

Normally the screen, whatever the time of day, is just apparently white with this app. Don't mean to deter anyone, if they're thinking they're going to be using coloured computers etc. TVs also give off blue light, so it's another source of potentially being stimulated.
Our body clocks are primed for our sleep/wake cycle by the light that enters our eyes - this then influences the hormones, such as melatonin, that we produce, which initiates sleeping or waking. |

I'm sure I always have some dust etc on the screen.
Just found the programme name, it's called f.lux.
There are probably other ways of doing the same thing, but their site would explain how coloured light affects our sleep. |
