Vicks rubbed on ya forehead works the same as 4heads too
Is it possible you could be getting rebound headaches? Have you had a break from the tramadol since Wednesday? |

"Only been taking the tramadol as advised by the doc ....on an evening as it knocks me out .....been taking parcematol during the day ..."
Has the Dr prescribed tramadol for migraine? Or were you taking it for something else? Prescribing tramadol to knock you out at nightime is pointless if you have migraines during the day |

"Tramadol for migraine? Wow! "
I was thinking that, it usually makes headaches/migraines worse.
Best bet is increase the blood sugar (eat a banana) and Oxygen... |

I have had migraines since I was a child but in 1995 I was prescribed sumatriptan, I take it when it starts and it stops it dead. Painkillers do nothing for my migraines. You can only get it on prescription
I was prescribed co-codomol recently for a knee injury and it actually gave me migraines so the tramadol may not be helping.
It isn't unusual for migraines to last several days. Eat properly get rest and sleep. It will help. Sunglasses may help if you are photo sensitive. |

Opiate analgesia is a bugger for potentiating migraine. Codeine and tramadol will kill a migraine but can cause them in some people, or cause rebound headaches after a couple of days use.
I got addicted to codeine when I first got ill, tramadol made my migraines worse. As a nurse I went through everything looking for relief.
Benadryl (diphenhydramine) 50mg plus naproxen 750mg can be gotten from the pharmacist and thats useful. Asprin 900mg also works. And plain old paracetamol when taken with the above. Sumatriptan is wonderful, as are any of the triptans, if you get migraine regularly the doctor should prescribe them. I take frova and sumatriptan as an injection. I believe you can buy sumatriptan otc but have never tried.
If you feel sick, you can buy domperidone over the counter, or benadryl should help.
And I adore putting white tiger balm on my forehead and a cold pack alternating with a warm wheat pack.
God I totally hate migraine. I really do. Get well soon xxxx |

I have just been to the doctors this week re migraines ( I get maybe 1 or 2 a month) and she wanted to prescribe me beta blockers !!! Apparently they have been found to prevent them, I refused as I don't want to take long term meds for something I get fairly infrequently even though it can knock me out for the day and as a single mum of 3 and working part time can be extremely inconvenient.
She wasn't prepared to give me anything else........ So I'm now pissed off, and will probably seek a second opinion from a different doctor.
Awful things migraines, my mother and grandmother suffered too, now I'm worried my girls will also inherit them

There are loads of preventatives out there. Beta blockers are a first line treatment, amitiptyline, or topiramate which is like devils stools but causes weight loss so is great if you want to curb an appetite.
They all work. For me, I take thirty pills a day anyway. Two to stop me spending three days in bed throwing up in intractable pain - god I was ripping the script out of the consultant's hand before the ink was dry. |

I take 50mg Topiramate bd. Was up to 400 mg once but I also take amitrip. now and gabapentin.
If a migraine gets really out of hand we used to give out pred packs in medical admissions. Prednisolone stops the inflammation dead. We would only give it if the patient had a clear ct and the migraine was over five days long though.
I take steroids daily now anyway. Still get migraines. Lololol. |

Sounds like you've got a migraine cluster, I had them for 3 weeks a while ago
My doc prescribed Maxalt, it works as long as I take it when I feel the migraine coming on (I get fuzzy vision, or can't see some letters in a word). If the headache's unbearable, I suck on chunks of Cadbury's Dream white choc, it sounds weird, especially as I don't really like white choc but for me it really eases the headache
I feel for you, I feckin hate migraines. |

I've had a migraine since may now!!! It eases off and then a couple of times a week bag a thunderstorm in my head. It all started by me having meningitis . Stop taking paracetamol it has the opposite effect and can make the migraine much worse. I saw a neurologist a couple of weeks ago who told me this. To be honest it's really having big implications on my life, I am now taking amitriptalyne which works wonders at blocking the pain for a few hours at night until it wears off. Just a shame I can't drive etc after taking it which is why I take it early evening. Perhaps see your gp and ask for amitriptalyne. The only time I've not felt it was yesterday after anaesthetic at the dentist lol. My gp also suggested a wheat bag which you usually warm, he told me to freeze it and if I feel it getting worse put on the back of my neck it does help a little if u can stand the cold. It's deffinetly worth getting check out again as there could be something under lying which is why it's lasting so long pretty much like mine do. I'm having further investigations on brain serum etc to rule out a tumor now as they can't get to the bottom of the cause. I feel for you the pain is unbearable at times most days I'm in tears. Xxxx |

I feel for you I get them bad with numbness and the flashing lights before it tramadol is a bit extreme for them and I think if you have a young the migraine won't go because you have him/her to look after. Try the migraine association I find it very helpful Hope your better x |

Same here...depends on what stage the migraines at as well....I suffered from the age of 8 often for a week at a time...pain killers work better if you alternate brands..anti inflammatory medication also works well...reduces swelling, so reduces pressure!
My trigger turned out to be stress related...so I very rarely get a headache anymore! |
