I had a Shiraz noir a while back that was to die for, don't know where it was from and can't find it anywhere (I was on a cruise ship).

A couple of weeks ago I was really impressed with an Argentinean Shiraz too

Awwwwwe that's why you're not getting any meets - it's a New Zealand Chardonnay you should be drinking not Ozzie (bloody Ozzie's)!! "Ö"

Oh & if you can afford, try not to go for the mass produced labels - they're nowhere near as nice!!

personally I find a full bodied Spanish, French or NZ red to be almost as good as Tantric Sex - but preferably without the spillage!!

With Steak? Grant Burge Old Vine Shiraz or Chateau Musar.

Fish? Any decent Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc (Oyster Bay's good and reasonable) or Sancerre.

Day to day drinking? A decent Pinot Grigio or Chilean Unoaked Chardonnay. Or if on a red mood - my current fave is a slightly chilled Marlborough Pinot Noir.

Not that I'm fussy !

Try and get your hands on som 'Caballo Loco' - it's an interesting concept - a blend of several vintages, but awesome with a good medium fillet!

Manchester Area

No longer made, but a sparkling Burgundy made by Chanson Père et Fis in Beaune. The vineyards they used to produce this were replanted as they could produce higher quality still wines. The last ones I bought were labelled, corked and delivered to my hotel

Buckingham estate shiraz or a nice riesling auslese. Or any Marlborough sauvignon. Or a chilean carmenere.

For a white try Fault Line it's a New Zealand wine and it's lush.

Reds - nice French any day for us

"Gallo family Summer red. It's just beautiful "

The 'Summer' wines from Gallo , First Cape and such are very low alcohol about 4.5% - 5% and WAY too sweet..... They taste like kids cordial.

I don't have a favourite and so select what I feel I want at the time.

I really do like Edouard champagne but only like one glass and only if it's a celebration.

I seldom drink white wine and if I do I prefer it to be one of the golden/yellow bodies with pear but not sweet.

Mostly I ask for Cabernet Sauvignon and there are several reasonable supermarket ones including Turning Leaf and Wolf Blass.

A really good red at a snip is Marks and Sparks Raso De Laz Cruz Red.
