Don't!!!!!!

There is going to be a mini price war starting from tomorrow... Sainburys have announced they are taking up to 6p a litre of petrol and 4p a litre of diesel... So no petrol station owned by them will sell at no more expensive than 130

Asda have countered by saying they will be no more expensive than 128.7

Hope this helps

Pretty lucky here Asda is 131.7 and Sainsburys 132.9. Doubt if they will take 6p off that.

But any reduction is welcome, just for how long is the question

"50 mile roundtrip to the nearest of either of those. Grrrr."

I would hopefully suggest they will all drop prices tomorrow... The big petrol boys tend to follow the supermarkets

I never really use supermarket petrol stations as never think the quality is as good as the big ones, so hopefully the big petrol stations will follow

you are throwing good money after bad.

they are all from the same refineries, just different tankers collect it.

they might come from the same source but what they do when it gets to the station is different , read about it and you will see, I always get more millage from big ones then supermarket stations

I have read about this and tested it. I'm fortunate enough to have a fuel card so can fill up where I want (except motorway services). I cover about 50,000 miles per year.

Personally I have found it impossible to show a benefit of buying branded fuel over supermarkets. The trouble is you can never make two journeys the same across two full tanks of fuel.

I think this is all a myth and theses companies are trying to justify higher costs.

There has been test and it has been proved that using supermarket fuel makes your car run with less power and get less mpg than some of the big brands. It had been shown on tv and in quite a few car magazines that what he is saying is right.

Newcastle-under-Lyme

I did a big shop yesterday and put £40 quid's worth of petrol in straight after. When I got home I found a 6p a litre voucher off with my shopping receipt. Doh!

Luckily it lasts for 2 weeks but knowing my luck, it will become invalid due to the price war

Read it and if it doesn't say anything in conjunction with other offers they will honour it.

Local esso.... 135.9

Local sainsburys.... 128.9

This is correct. Supermarket fuel generally comes from either the start or end of the refining process and is generally of a slightly lower quality and octane rating. It also has more impurities in it. The upshot is that it can cause damage to your fuel filters (if your car has one), fuel injectors and also exhaust valves and catalytic converters.

I never use supermarket fuels, over time its false economy as the damage it CAN cause to your engine can be catastrophic...
