I'm sat watching the TV mini series of Dune at the moment and it is nothing like the book. It has nothing of the feel of it, even though it is a brave attempt.
Has anyone else watched a mini series and thought this is nothing like the book? |

Stephen King's miniseries always stray from some of the better parts of his stories or completely screw up the end. But I still like a few of them.
Under the Dome on Channel 5 has totally strayed but they did get the atmosphere and characters almost spot on and Dean Norris from Breaking Bad is playing a brilliant untypical villain.
Mostly, the Walking Dead has become fuck all like the comics. Not as exciting or even dramatic in my eyes. Plus they killed characters that arent meant to die and ones that shouldnt have died so soon |

After watching the film and the TV series I think Dune is just going to have to stay unfilmable. As I tend to read the books before I see the TV series or films I tend to think of them as a separate entity, tweaked to provide entertainment for the people who haven't read the books.
I never watched The Tudors but apparently it wasn't even remotely close to reality, but it sure looked good. That's the way it goes. |
