You know those little plastic pointy things you get in some shirt collars?

Are you suppose to take them out and throw them away or leave them in there?

I'm asking here as I know I'm gonna get laughed at whatever the answer is....

If they are inside the collar or inserted in a little channel type pocket on the underside, then they are meant to be there, they are to stop the corners of the collar turning in or out... so they make the collar look good!

Phew i was getting concerned till i read this one. The bits that are inside the cloth must stay there mustn't they?

If the shirt in question has the slots sawn into the pointy bit of the collar, then I would remove them before washing the shirt in the washing machine, otherwise you risk loosing them during wash.

You can get replacement quite easily nowadays, including metal ones that can be engraved for personal touches.

I recently bought hubby a shirt with the sewn in channels and the pointy bits of plastic in, and the first time he wore the shirt he argued with me cos I said leave them in. The shirt even had a replacement set attached with the spare buttons, so I assumed they were meant to be there and not thrown away like the bit plastic over the top button on some shirts.

So Im gonna show him this thread and say see I was right and you were wrong again
