I think some people do this even if nothing to complain about as think its away of getting money back . And some no matter how good things are will still find something to complain about .Its rear I ever complain about things and have to be bad if I ever did.

Especially on twitter. I have had dreadful service in a few restaurants, posted the comment with a hashtag and they asked me to email in and as a consequence I got the cost of the meal refunded as a good will gesture.

You should see some of the social media "war rooms" in large companies who are doing real time sentiment analysis and checking to keep their brand "pure" (some look the size of those NASA scenes ou see in films)

a lot of companies give redress for some form of complaint: you get the serial complainers

Just I think for some its become a art seeing how they can get money back even if nothing wrong . Because they maybe don't have a lot of money to so feel if they complain can get money for other things.

im with you, hate complaining unless there is something to actually complain about.

Always give an honest opinion on a meal. Understand if short staffed or very busy but sometimes manning levels are not our concern. Of course common sense must apply but paying good money for sub standard food and service isn't acceptible. If they wish to address this by coffees, a sweet each or another means I or we would happilly resolve things and appreciate the gesture of goodwill.

One occasion though where this wasn't sufficient was with an awfully ribeye. Not cooked as per request, they tried to rectify it by heating it again and brought it backout when partner had finished. It was an awful piece, under then overcooked and it left us disappointed ending up eating seperately due to insisting on them doing the meal again. It was a decent French restaurant, in fairness it didn't stop us going and they have been great since

I whinge all the time - I inherited it from my Jewish mother (well the gefilte fish never falls far from the tree Innit )

I complain about slow or bad service, incorrectly or badly presented food.

They are a service industry n if I ain't getting service then I'm being failed at point of contact. I don't do it in a rude manner but I certainly don't moan to the people I'm with n then when asked by waiters if it's ok, respond with a 'yes thank you'.

If it ain't right then it ain't right n needs putting right AMEN

That drives me mad. I go to a table, check everything is ok, to be told yes everything is fine, and as I'm walking away, they slag everything off. I can't rectify a problem if I don't know about it.

I complain when I get a bad service and complement when I get a good service.

If I ran any sort of business I would appreciate the feedback so I can duplicate the good and work on eliminating the bad.

As long as it's done in a constructive way I actually think it's a positive thing to do. If they learn from it it will save them on compensating with freebies in the long run.

My kitchen manager has a file warning for slapping a raw chicken breast onto a plate and taking it out to a customer to prove it actually was a chicken breast he was eating!!!
