I feel murderous... my hair has been short feathered by a senior stylist in a good dressers in L'pool.
What is it I do wrong ?? I've just spent four months growing out the last bad cut ( good cut but not how I wanted it ) just to have another bad ( very good but not what i CLEARLY explained )
I grew out my hair so that it could be cut properly and she's bloody well fearthered it !!
For christ's sake. I do feel murderous. I feel like someone else! I've got NO hair!!
I asked to have my layers in .. gentle layers..... She's done a bloody hatchet punk feather job ... I could KILL.
Haidressers... what's the diff between layers and feathering ... I never bloody asked for feathering!!!
I do feel stupid being upset at my age.... but it's horrendous it's like iv'e been assaulted.
Okay I know it will grow but DON'T say that... Goooooooood !!
Anyone else ever felt like this after a cut ???

Ooh granny I do know what you mean.... I would rather go to a dentist than a hairdressers ( cut my own hair last month by tying in a ponytail and cutting it off )
I went to one once who not only cut my shoulder length hair, I had taken ages to grow, shorter than I wanted but persuaded me to have a perm in naturally curly hair. I stayed in and cried for two days till a good friend brought another hairdresser to my home to sort out the mess.
My condolences on your loss. xxxx |

Thank you for this thread Granny, I knew I wasnt abnormal about my hairdresser
I hated going for soooo many years I cut my own hair (just a trim even tho I dont like my hair long) cos I couldnt find a good hairdresser where I used to live.
Finally found a great one who did exactly what I wanted - even tho I just sat there and said "I want something short and easy to manage that I can just wash and not have to straighten" but the hairdresser has now closed and I have no idea where she went so yesterday I resorted to hacking my fringe again myself, and even tho everyone says my hair looks good I know it looks a mess!!!
Everytime Im out I look thru all the hairdressers windows to see if she works there now, but havent found her yet hope I do soon cos I really need a trim, cos I look like Im growing my hair long again.

A bad hair cut can do so much to one's self esteem, so you have every reason to feel this way!
The good thing is that hair will grow and you should be able to have another hair cut soon.
In the mean time, you could hide beneath a pretty head scarf!
Good luck! |

"buy a hat" reminds me of some really stupid thing I did to myself a few years ago
I decided years ago I hated my mousey brown (its naturally that non descript brown) and I have been dying my hair since I found highlight kits when I was 12.
Normally I go dark, purple, deep red, black those sort of colours. So one day hubby went to work oldest was at school and I thought now or never and bought a pre highlighting kit. DONT DO IT if your naturally dark and have been dying your hair every 4 weeks for years its really not a good thing.
It wasnt even on my head for the proper time (much much less) but I felt my head nipping (never had that before or since) washed it off the roots were WHITE and the ends carrot orange all the bits in the middle all different shades of ginger
Went to the school to collect my then 6 year old she took one look at me and said (in the tone I use to make them listen) "for gods sake mum hurry up I dont want anyone to see you ohh and tomorrow wear a hat cos thats really really bad" she even refused to be seen out with me later that day when I went to get another hair dye!!!
The worst thing was hubby never even noticed til the kids said to him!!!!

Ohh and Laine hun at least it was tonight and not yesterday!!! but Im sure your not as bad as you think.
I always have a hat for when I have a really bad hair day, laast night it was bad cos I got to the hotel to discover I had no hairbrush or comb so had to get Steven to hold the hairdrier while I hand combed my hair
Worst hair do I had (ever) was a do it yourself - I got really bored with long hair so grabbed Stevens hair clippers and hacked the whole lot off - did you know the longest setting on Nicky Clark hair clippers still only gives you about 2 inches all over I looked like a man in drag

I don't care bout my hair so much now, I've had really long hair (used to sit on it) really short hair (a rub over with a wet flannel and it was washed) And no hair! so titch drew a lovely big flower over my whole head, with its stem twining down my neck with body art gel pens |

AWWWW Laine thats sooo sweet.
My kids got a kit each at Christmas (how to colour in your sister with body art pens in one easy move lol) so far we have had musical notes, guitars (in bright purple) bright green roses, ohh and some really funny coloured bath water afterwards
But I seriously doubt my girls would do something so lovely to me - they would prob find the marker pens first

Thanks Patrick,
I used to do that but my hairdresser retired. Like me she's an old cluck so the last three times my hair has been cut by someone else.
The only time I got a good cut was in manchester. I'd go back but shit it's a long way to go for a cut. |

When I was younger, I had rather very long hair, it was my life, really looked after it and the comments from many a woman about what lovely hair I had, the questions on hot to keep it so good etc.
To answer the OP, yes I have been there when the cut is nothing to what I expected and hoped for, no matter how many people said they liked my hair that way, it just wasn't good enough, it wasn't what I wanted.
Anyway, now I never get a bad cut, because I do it myself and have no choice in the style. |

I let someone else cut my hair after my usual hairdresser was off
Big mistake.......I looked like I had a fecking crash helmet on my head
I was going out that night and there was no way I was going out with my hair how it was
There was also no way I was going back to the same hairdressers, they messed it up once, was'nt going to let them have another go at messing it up
So phoned another one, went it holding it up pleading for them to make me look normal/trendy/less like I had a crash helmet on............they did a beautiful job

I am on my 4th hair dresser in 21y.
My hair is a nightmare to cut, being very strong and straight, with a double crown. Only very experienced cutters can handle my hair.
I have had less experienced cutter cut my hair on the odd occasions with dire results.
So I tend to book my appointments 2 months in advance in order to make sure my normal hairdresser will be able to cut mine.
If she goes on holiday, I would ask her to recommend me a replacement.
One of the girls at the salon dreads the thought of cutting my hair, bless her! I watched her progressed up the ladder from the bottom, and from being a young girl to a confident young lady, to be the competent stylist she is today.
Yet, she still dreads having to cut my hair, bless her! |

I had my hair cut on Monday and absolutely hate it.
From the front it's how I wanted it but the hairdresser has cut it far to short and cropped into my neck which I HATE.
It's my own fault though, I forgot to say that although I have the back shorter than the front, I don't like it to be TOO SHORT at the back |
