Was reading today about a scheme being tested over the next few weeks. Where people in an area that has a major threat or emergency would get a text advising them what to do by the government..

First test is in easingwold in north Yorkshire...

It will be sent to all registered mobile phones.

Do you think it's a good idea...?

It will warn on things like terrorist attacks, pandemics, flood, chemical leaks, fire or plane or train disasters etc..

That's what mobile phones are good for.

It wouldn't help me or many like me who don't have one.

Nothing like a group text to coordinate the mass panic and looting.
