Some bright spark has decided that this weekend all footballers in premiership and championship matches to wear rainbow coloured laces in a bid to tackle homophobia in football!
The tagline is 'sexuality shouldn't be an issue' whilst at the same time making it an issue with this idiotic idea.
I wonder if any players, especially foreign, will abstain from wearing them |

"Especially foreign ?"
I simply mean that many players in the league may hail from nations which have very different views and laws on homosexuality than ourselves. Granted there may be domestic players with similarly strong stances perhaps based on religious beliefs |

I suspect that the FA PR machine will roll into action and you will see every player wearing them
The number of openly gay professional footballers is shamefully low, so I think it is a good move to demonstrate an anti-homophobic stance, especially given the recent law passed in Russia. |

Why is it a idiotic idea, its because gay men in sport find it hard to come out because of the macho homophobia in team sports that campaign like this should be supported, its not going to solve the issue of homophobia on the terraces or on the field but it will highlight the issue which is a good thing and I for one support it |

"Who are stonewall?
Some organisation that act/speak on behalf of gay folks. I think."
Oh. So then no they haven't got anything better to do because they are doing their job!
I find it ridiculous that in this day and age there has to be Programmes and initiatives like this to be honest.
Just because a player is gay it doesn't mean he's going to bum you as he rushes in for a sliding tackle does it. |

Would the miserable bastards not liking this idea have the same dislike if the laces were pink in support of breast cancer, or blue for testicular cancer?

As a huge football fan...I think it is a good idea......
Homosexuality both on the pitch and off exists however there are hardly any gay footballers and I doubt you would admit to be a gay football fan.
