Yes, it is; I'm guessing it would result in little interest as it would put people off - and the owner would probably receive enough email that they would be hitting the 'Change Username' button fairly quickly - unless they did it just for the Lulz. |

but would Admin really allow just offensive names and Im sure they would be reported straight away and who would actually consider using such names if they were really genuine |

Okay, let's assume for a mo that a Mr F West of, say, Gt Yarmouth wants to join Fabs and specifically wants to use his real name (why, Gawd only knows...) as his username.
Just because the late Mr F West of Gloucester was a reprehensible bastard of the highest order, does that make the 'Gt Yarmouth Mr West' a tasteless, thoughtless person, with a tasteless username? No, not in my humble - and no doubt soon to be shot to pieces - opinion!
He's just unfortunate to have the same name as the other one, but it would be his right to use his name - tasteless or otherwise - would it not...??
However, if someone deliberately chose Fred West as a username to attract attention (and not the kind they may really want) then, yes, that would be tasteless.
Circumstances alter cases....

there is a username on here very close to the one I suggested. I have reported it to admin as I think its vile and its still there. |

I don't see the big problem people have. If you think a name is vile then report it give your reasons and leave it to admin. After all its their site let them make a decision based on what they feel is right or not. |

I find a lot of usernames in poor taste - the "Gashbasher" or ones that denigrate another type names.
Some people may find my name tasteless, even if they do know what it really means.
If you find it offensive then report it. If it's just not your idea of tasteful then move on.
