W7 is definitely better than W8 on a desktop/laptop... Only on a tablet is W8 ok, and even then it's still only just "ok".
There is a GA update out in Oct but it doesn't make it magically better!
It'll just return the start pin (because calling it a button would be an overstatement) which still takes you to the new "don't-call-it-metro" start menu and a few other minor performance and UI tweaks.
If your laptop isn't touchscreen then I recommend you downgrade back to W7 if it frustrates you that much... Otherwise stick with it as you may get used to it.
Or you could install a Linux distro |

Its like unpaid work for microsoft we keep having to update and report problems / errors to them if everyone asked for a refund due to so many problems what would they do they say they make each new one more user friendly so why does it take us so long to find our way around it and why does it stress us out as much |

Install a program like classic shell. It makes windows 8 look like windows 7. |

As ever Microsoft rushed out windows 8 without thorough testing
I use a software that makes 8 look like 7 - the software to do this is called start 8 and costs $10 |

You were ripped off ! Just go to Ninite and install Classic Start and all your Windows 8 problems are gone.
It's not actually that bad once you remove the Fisher Price aspect. At least they've given you back a proper Search function unlike the Windows 7 one, which is shite, unless you understand nested conditions ! |

When I changed to 7. I couldn't see the benefits.
More would have been great but it was like learning a whole new way of doing things i'd been doing for years. Like someone came in and swapped all the buttons over..... pointless.

I hated it when I first got it. Now I know how to use the bits I need. I mostly just go back to the desktop and avoid the dumb touch screen style buttons. |

I have a win8 lappy and its sat ideal for 6 months beause win8 in sooooo frustraing
Maybe windows should have asked us non geeks what we thought of it before the launch, atp they would have realised what a dumb ass os it is
I have read many threads on this issue and whilst I have never tried the non windows fix's, I have read they can conflict with windows os, I am therefore whating for the windows fix so I can use my new lappy, until then it will sit in its box where it is safe from my fist |

"then take it back to were you bought it from"
Why theres nothing wrong with it, its not the retailers fault that windows have produced an unpopular os, I'm just not a tehno wiz so i'll wait
If you brought a car and then found you can't fit your golf clubs in it, do you think you could take that back, same thing |

Need Windows 8 Pro to downgrade the legit way, so if you have W8 Pro then follow this guide:
http://mobile.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/windows/3459580/roll-back-windows-7-from-windows-8/
If you don't have W8 Pro then PM me and I can send you the stuff you need to install Windows 7. |

I hate it! Not having the start button is very frustrating and I can never find the control panel.
And if I move my hand too quickly on the erm... whatever the thing on a laptop is called that's not a mouse... the it keeps whizzing back to the start menu. Grrrr! |
