maybe it's because for the athletes it is the pinnacle of their sporting careers and we watch it because it is a way to support them and their achievement in getting there...and in order to be able to watch it...we have to spend a bit of cash sending people there?

What makes someone get up one day and think, ok lets go down a icey chute type thingy at zillion miles an hour on a tray???

Two disciplines which have been mentioned where we do have a chance for medals, and have success in the past, is the skeleton (Shirley Ruddman, who carried the flag at the opening ceremony is our hope here) and a woman in the Half Pipe snowboarding. I think there`s another possible in one of the more modern skiing things, but I can`t remember what it`s called.
We did, in the past, have a couple of medals in the short track speed skating and we used to be half decent at bob-sleigh.
I`m not going to do the jokes, but I think we could have a few good chances in the Paraplegic Games too, so not a complete waste of time. |

it is fun watching us do really rubbish things - love the winter olympics for the following reasons
1. love the way the curling team like Andy Murray are british if they win and scottish when they inevitably lose - bloody great if u ask us
2. The fact that it shows our lottery money is entirely wasted - have taught one of the most famous british olmpians and as usual they as with 70 percent of our athletes went to a private school - coaching is they key not just chucking cash at the problem
3. Some of the sports are plain mental
the womens downhill had some awesome crashes - the luge, bob etc all look like death is a moment away - and the best one of them all has to be skimp jumping - bloody mental or what
anyway long may the waste of money continue - all the way to summer 2012 - watch out for us as the british tiddlewinking small shot rapid event xx |
