So,

What advice would you give to a couple moving in together for the first time?

I love my own space so i'm going to get a good hobby!

He's done this before so i'm sure he will be fine!

How on earth will we manage to leave the bedroom-is it possible to install a kitchen in the bedroom so we never have to leave

Sorry-did we post in the wrong section?

I thought we could talk about anything in the Lounge bit?

It was also from a swingers/sex point of view.

E.g. are the stand-alone sex swings any good? Or should we get a ceiling fixable one and risk our damage deposit hehehe

The land of grey peas and bacon

Dear god talk about negativity from some....OP all i would advise is having your own independence ...like you said have a hobby that you enjoy doing by yourself but also find a hobby you can do together....maybe have the important chats in the beginning about things such as finances etc....but first and for most enjoy each other....living with someone tests the relationship as long as the solid foundations are there you will be fine....good luck

Our only issue really is little things like the toilet seat, him leaving lights on. And when he has a day off and does no tidying. Oh and the fact that I can be a bit of a nagging cow haha

Yep, I think that will be the key, finding time apart and together, things of our own.

We have lots that we share already-swinging being one of those things

as long as little things are your issue, you are fine; I've been with my partner for almost 6 years now, practically married. We have huge rows for stupid things, but we couldn't stand being away from each other. Just take things easy and enjoy your togetherness. x

Who needs a kitchen? Tesco will deliver to your door and bring your shopping inside - so order some snacks along with some condoms, lube and whipped cream and ask them to bring it right to your bedside.

get a door one. We got one at the weekend and it is great.

We have lived together for 10 year now and still love it. We both have our own things we like to do so once a week or every other week we will go out and do that by ourselves. Plus we do other things by ourselves like shopping etc.

the hardest bit was trying to keep in touch with friends as we had different groups of friends but we started off just nipping out for a few hours to c them and every so often we would go out seperate with our own friends and meet up at the end of the night.

Still works now and wouldn't change a thing.

my parents always said 2 things they would never talk about is religion and politics (dad being athiest and blue, mom being christian and red)

seems to have been a good thing to live by as they celebrate 40/45 years next year (cant remember which, although she did mention it last week lol)

never go to bed on a row (thats something we live by)

Living together should be a pleasure, waking up together and going to sleep together for example.

But keep communicating and clear lines of who is expected to do what around the house.

Make sure you don't take each other being there for granted and make time for each other as well as time to do your own things.

As said if you have a loving strong foundation then living together is relatively simple with compromise and understanding.

Good luck

Space and comprises are key. Also sex in different rooms will mean you won't be stuck in the bedroom.

"Our only issue really is little things like the toilet seat, "

I've never understood this, toilet seats are such a simple thing. If it's down and you need it up just move it, and if it's up and you need it down well moving it down is easy as well. Most kids learn this when they are potty training do some people mysteriously forget?

My advice would be to set a date for the house warming party and as a minimum invite everyone whom has posted on this thread.

Outside of that make sure the finances are sorted to pay the bills and keep a bit of money for each of you to spend as you wish and if you ever have a casual thought that things are getting a bit stale in the relationship then it probably is so take some positive actions to correct it before it gets too late.

Have fun.

Start thinking about which possessions you are both going to get rid off

You can't have double the number of wardrobes unless it's a huge house

Agree on the chore list, whose is the prime cleaner, cook gardener, shopper

when i was married i always did the cooking and shopping.

she did the cleaning, and tbf neither of us were ever particularly green fingered so her dad used to come and do the garden lol.

not all blokes are anti domestic, especially those of us that have our own place.
