I know of a stunning 156 2.4 JTD for sale for £650 (I think its a 2002 facelift interior model). They go like stink for a diesel...

If you're looking for a new car go for the Alfa Guilietta (some great finance deals going at the minute) or wait and go for the 4C...

jap all the way

just bought a brand new mk9 1.8 civic TI for 17,000 compare that to a audi a3 for example

audi you pay more and get:

more insurance costs

lower mpg

less boot space

i was looking at a golf, A3 or a civic and the civic won hands down

If you really want to stand out just buy an Alfa, they don't deserve the reputation they've got anymore (a reputation built around two maodels that haven't been built for 30yrs, the Alfasud and GT Junior).

I've had one for a couple of years now and its been perfectly reliable, so much so that I won't drive anything else...

The MiTo is a great little car, the Twin Air is really economical and pretty nippy too. I think its recently won European engine of the year. Good finance options too.

Oh, the owners club is great too, loads of events and freebies. The owner forums are also outstanding...

My alfa has just passed the 150000 mile mark. Only mot failure was to replace the backbox as the original was starting to blow ! Other than the fact that she needs 2 new driveshafts as yet again the original parts are starting to play a bit there are no issues.as another poster said goes like stink for a diesel . Compare bmw recalls versus the 147 for example and be surprised. Reliability issues ? Nonsence

I can get you the driveshafts cheap (either genuine Alfa or uprated Meyle ones for cos)t and can put you in touch with excellent Alfa indi garages to fit them if you need it. Just drop me a pm...

Usually, they're the ones that decide to go cheap on servicing once the original warranty has expired. An Alfa that's been properly looked after is no less reliable than any other car.

I've got a Seat Leon Cupra mk2, it's essentially a VW, as the engine is made by Audi and all the dash etc is very similar. They're quick too, standard Cupra petrol are 2.0 ltr turbos at 240bhp, and a stage 1 remap will take it over 300bhp. They're reliable as hell and if you whack it in 6th and cruise you'll get a good 32mpg. Best car I've ever driven and owned!

I like the Cupra, how does it handle with 300bhp through the front wheels though?

Surprisingly very well, I was dubious at first thinking it would be far too much, but I've never had any issue with traction or pulling to one side! The satisfaction factor is the greatest though, when you have the likes of M3's sitting up your arse and you gun it, and they're like
