Don't worry about it. Only difference dark nights make to me is that I change my running routes and am a little more vulnerable on a bike, by safety I assume you mean crime and it doesn't worry me at all. |

I feel safe enough, live in a small village and only once had a problem at the local park but if I am out and about after dark I am not on my own normally. |

I do not enjoy the dark nights, the sounds seems to bounce around a lot more, so sometimes make it hard to know where things are coming from. Not a fan of hi vis wear as I think it makes me a target. So if I can avoid it I do not go out |

" Now the nights are drawing in (especially when it's been pissing down all day) how safe do you feel walking out in your local area??"
Always feel safe the dark has never bothered me at all.
Im one who will randomly go off for walks around my work place in the small hours to check on things.
Yet the other women here wont do it alone. |

I live in a pretty rough council estate although its not as bad as it was a couple of years ago . I sometimes feel
a bit scared when out in the evening alone but I don't want to feel
Like a prisoner so ile push myself if I need to.
My adult daughters will get a taxi if they need to go out |

Very true. The attacks I have experienced, many years ago now, were on the way to work at 8am on a sunny day and at work at 8.30am when the cleaner attacked me.

Newly single, so can't say I am looking forward to dark nights. I'm sure this area is reasonably safe though and they have just changed our street lighting, can't sleep now cause its so bright but better light to my front door. |

Not brilliantly safe but safe enough. I will have to get used to it now while walking puppy at night he's no good as a guard dog he just wants to lick you and nip occasionally. But I normally. Get taxi back from station and don't wait around for one. It's not that rough but can sometimes feel a little, etc intimidating |

There are parts of London I don't feel safe in at noon midsummer's day! I chose this area as the girls were 11 and 15 when I moved here 10 years ago: nothing has changed I feel safe even though my journey takes me through/past three council estates. |

An ex-brother-in-law of mine told a story from when he was walking home from work late one night through a council estate... 'I realised there was a group of teenage lads following me. I'm so glad I kept up with my karate'
So what did you do? Lay them all out?
'No... being a black belt in karate and keeping up with my training meant... I was fit enough to run much faster than they could!' |

Completely safe.
I was born and brought up here. I went to school with most of the 'faces' or their dads. Snogged some of their sisters. Went to their weddings and christenings.
Completely safe. |

I feel fully safe cause I know the nutters in my small town I live in, I know the alleys to avoid at nights and know short cuts everywhere. Cant not be safe here haha. |

where venus lives, she will happily walk the streets at any time of night, small village and nosey neighbours.
where i am, you really need to drive to go to the local shops, so no point going out walking after dark anyway. |
