Are you looking forward to being made to get yours?

Looking forward to it would be an overstatement but I'm not against the idea of having to have one.

I'm not against them in principal but think they're going to be quite expensive - will they be used to replace passports so we don't have to buy them as well? Z

"Are you looking forward to being made to get yours?"

Yes, because the only way will be to pick me up and carry me to get one (and I'll still tell them to fuck right off). I have my passport, that's the only ID I need. Perhaps it would be easier to tattoo people on the forearm at birth with their ID No?

Couldn't everyone be imprinted with a ID chip like dogs/cats have? Save the risk of losing a card!

"Are you looking forward to being made to get yours?"

.

I'd be the first in the queue to get mine!

I came from a formal British Colony/Dependent Territory where everyone has to have an ID card at the insistance of the mother country.

Hence I find the objections to ID cards in this country rather hypocritical, IMHO!

Great IDea to have ID cards,

We should not have to pay for the first issue but only replacements with lost cards charged at a premium to deter people from selling them or lending them to family as often happens with Driving Licences.

The only information required on an ID card is a chip read security code which authorities can read with a chip reader and owners only would know.

Organ Donor information

Photograph (preferably not a cock pic)

Visible Distinguishing marks

I am sure all forces and ex forces personnel would agree they can be a great asset

HUH? Am I? Who said?

This govt can't track me down at the best of times so if they think I'm gonna roll up to the local FuckMeOver Clinic willingly and ASK for an ID card they gotta another think coming.

I will so so so smile if we do have to have them as the post you put up on that day will be a fab epic!

Just think you will have to turn up at the airport, with your biometric passport, your ID card and then go through the BODY SCANNER. I want to see them ask to frisk ya after all that

We all know how reliable computerised things are, so easy to go wrong! How long would it take before some one ended up with incorrect details on their card and as well as that eventually some one cleverer than the one that invents it will come along and find a way to copy, alter or abuse the cards and after all how long have we all been here and managed quite easily without such an ID card, after all I dont think I will forget who I am if asked by some one, in my opinion a waste of time and money and just another thing to inevitably go wrong, not to mention we should we be made to pay for something that some one else wants us to have, I dont see any upside to such a card

My thoughts exactly! I have a passport and photo driving license why pay a fortune for something that isn't mandatory?

My sister lives in Italy and everyone has to have one. My brother-in-law even travelled to the UK on his as his passport was out of date! Thing is people who have nothing to hide will have them whilst the n'er do wells won't: that makes sooooo much sense!

Passport is allegedly not sufficient as a form of ID as it does not have your address on it.

It is only a document for travelling.

Can't remember who told me that.

clacton on sea

i have three yes three forms of ID

1) a passport

2) a driving licence

3) a tachograph card

all have a photo on them all need renewing either 10 yearly or five yearly at a cost of between £20 or £60 .

now they want me to carry another card that will no doubt need renewing periodically @ god only know how much,so @ some point i'll be spending in excess of £100 to renew all of them in the same year.

yet another stealth tax placed on the people of our nation under the pretense of identifying possible aliens who have entered this country under false pretense's.

all in the name of making it easier to catch those who shouldn't be here in the first place, and look at the home office's track record in the past when they released 140,000 detainee's awaiting deportation only because someone didn't pass over the information to the right department, i can see all naturalized citizen's being deported and all those who have no right to be here being allowed to stay lol

As someone else said,

Lets fix the problem with our lax immigration first.

And i want to know...

Why can australia and the like put so many restrictions in place when it comes to letting folk into their country yet when we try we are called racists..????

Its not racist to control the number that come in or apply.

Its good home management.

And Id cards aint gonna fix that mess or anything else

Too right! Nothing wrong with ID cards!

And if we do it correctly we can do away with passports/driving licences/health cards/NI cards ect. All info in one place with your DNA and fingerprint info as a secondary check. No card, no access to services and if you cant produce it on request a trip to the cells until you are identified.

Making a card is not hard, all ex service personnel will know how quickly one can be made, and the machines can be placed in every major police station along with the fingerprint readers and maybe even DNA readers. Its not difficult to do, it just takes the will to do it.

Am not against ID cards per se, after all, we have driving licenses, passports etc etc etc.

My objection comes from the insistence that they carry biometric details, and for this reason alone I am against having one.

but that is the whole point of them! the biometric information is what makes them worth while

my biometric information is mine, don't want something else of mine on a "secure" database just so that it can get lost/stolen and used by some unsavoury oik
