"Thought so. I think they'll do a good job."

They were the favourites but I wondered if the ongoing nuclear leaks might mean that people would vote against them.

It's going to be interesting when Godzilla joins the marathon runners. And there must be something Mothra will be good at.

So they can quadruple their hotel/restaurant prices? Certainly will be an Olympics for the rich to attend won't it? No working class person will be able to afford it will they?

I want to see live, real people Bakugan. Maybe that would work for the Paralympics with the Murder Ball crews.

It would have been more affordable for the average person. Tokyo isn't cheap at all but the transport is fantastic.

Best read them a couple of times at least (bit complicated for some). That helps.

My thinking as well, Tokyo is already very expensive and will only become more so at Olympic Games time.....Turkey would have been cheaper for visitors and more easily accessible for European visitors.

turkey's hopes went when they could decide if they wanted euro 2020 or the olympics... by the time they decided which they wanted, and then the government pictures of them crushing protests it was game over.....

would have thought it would have been madrid vs tokyo.... but hats off to the japanese and their bid....

suppose this means it will be probably europe's turn in 2024......

This one. I was here in London during the Olympics and Paralympics. Some prices remained the same, some didn't. The initial planned hike in prices came down in some hotels when they lost out on bookings. The seat pricing structure meant that some seats were affordable for average people and those that went that I know all felt they had value for money and a fantastic time.

Lets hope so, as the Olympics are in Brazil in 3 years.

Apart from an attempted hike in hotel room prices most prices stayed the same in London for visitors to the Olympics.

The much predicted 'rip off' actually failed to materialise in the main, but then again most of it was tabloid scare stories that never came to pass.

Some things were even cheaper for those of us that remained in London. Theatre tickets were easy and cheap to get.

See, I knew there was something footbally and it's before the Olympics so... ok, my memory failed as I was channel flicking while posting.

I have insomnia so that's fine. London was great but I didn't go out much in case I missed anything.

There was little discounting of rooms but the standard rate didn't alter at all from before. There are always cynical and uninformed people who jump on the bandwagon but the reality was different and it didn't cost me much different working down there over the Olympics than before them.

Madrid would never have been able to afford the Olympics, they put in their bid long before their financial crisis.

Exactly. London has a summer price anyway. I find London Fashion Week affects the prices much more for hotels than the Olympics did.

Glad it's not in Europe. I'm addicted to the Olympics and hate missing anything. Watching in the wee hours suits me rather then having to miss huge chunks whilst at work and having to make do with radio coverage
