no because being male and female they wasn't sharing the same placenta that only works if they are identical and feeding off the same placenta, he was born with disabilities and had problems all his life and I lost him at 20 months old, being a twin had nothing to do with his condition tho |

Sorry to hear that. I also lost one at 9 weeks. Was ectopic. Had she/he been born they would have been 8 this month. I often wonder what would have been but consider myself they lucky that I have three wonderful girls xx |

I only had a c section with my first as I had severe SPD. And I have to say recovery after natural was so much easier!! But I was blessed with small babies. |

Yes, I can't think of anything more painful than a loss of a child. My sister and her son were the victims of clinical negligence during his birth sadly and although he survived (thank god) he is severely disabled through being starved of oxygen. |

My daughter had her brothers name tattooed on her arm ahead of her marriage so he'd be part of the celebrations. Sadly, our son's death ended the marriage: we didn't grieve together. |

Oh my, can I relate to that. That's exactly how I felt. Five weeks I spent looking at him in an incubator. Finally had him home, only really had him to myself for two weeks when I discovered him dead in his cot.
22 years is a long time to be sad, but there you go. |

I worried about my brothers sanity and how they would cope but they are so strong its unreal i never thought id see them smile again.
Even when she was being nursed as she was very sick and we knew she was dying he had a rule noone was allowed to cry or be sad infront of her.
Reading some of these posts makes me feel very honoured indeed to have my healthy boys and my little hobbit.
Much respect to you all for sharing x |

Did you keep anything of his? My mom kept the tiny bonnet, bootees, blanket he wore in his incubator as well as a lock of his hair. We still look at them now and whenever I am back in Somerset I always visit his grave. I remember his birthday and death every year and always buy flowers for home.
Big hug for you xx |

A lock of his hair and his hospital ankle bracelet. I keep it in a small chest in my wardrobe. When I was burgled nine years ago the first thing I asked my daughter to check for (after asking if she was ok) was the box.
She said it was still there: I was so relieved. Things can and were replaced, my little box is my most treasured possession. |

Unfortunately I've never got past 12 weeks gestation.
1st miscarried at 9+3
2nd miscarried at 7+6
3rd I had a silent miscarriage, was detected at my 12 week scan but the baby had stopped growing at 10 weeks.
4th I had a pregnancy of unknown origin, my hcg levels suggested 7-8 weeks gestation. Although my uterus was empty. Had methotrexate treatment to end the pregnancy for my health as it was a non viable pregnancy.
My miscarriage bloods were inconclusive although I know now I have PCOS. I've partially come to terms with the fact I'll probably never carry to term, although it still hurts when i think of my losses.
I've had a coil put in to give myself some breathing space and a rest from the quest of motherhood for awhile. Am considering fostering in the future although not just yet. I strongly believe it must not be in my plan to be a mum but everything happens for a reason...

I've had a coil put in to give myself some breathing space and a rest from the quest of motherhood for awhile. Am considering fostering in the future although not just yet. I strongly believe it must not be in my plan to be a mum but everything happens for a reason...
Oh blimey, have just tried to pm you, but cant because I haven't any pic, please do not give up hope xxxx

"This thread made for some sad reading "
Yes it did but also a lot of happiness too.
Thank you to all who posted.
I've just lost my patience big tine with my child. Sick of his back chat but I've come back and read this thread and although I stll dislike his behaviour immensely, I realise that I am so very lucky to have him and to be a mother when so many women don't have that opportunity. its just so hard doing it on your own.

"Unfortunately I've never got past 12 weeks gestation.

Your right everything does happen for a reason. I can't understand the pain you must have gone through with each subsequent miscarriage as I only had one albeit losing three together was a triple whammy but I knew I couldn't put myself through it again and gave up then and adopted instead. There are many ways of becoming a mum not just the conventional way it takes a special kind of person to do that as adopting or fostering isn't always an easy route either but the joy it brings is priceless.
Love to all those mums who have, who have lost and who are still wanting. Keep believing |

"to this day a piece of my heart is missing I gave it away when my bambino was no longer and i am ok with that....I experienced heart break when relationships ended but i have never ever experienced the most heart wa
wrenching heart break then when i lost my baby...anyway that is my deep moment "
My son was dead when I found him. I can't describe the sinking feeling and fear that hit me like a physical blow. I managed to get his heart started whilst my husband called 999. I lived less than a mile from Kings: they were there in seconds and took over, but I knew if he survived he would be brain damaged.
Twelve hours later, listening to a priest give him the Last Rites while the doctors unplugged his life support and watch him die in my husbands arms was the moment a part of me died permanently.
I've never been genuinely happy since. Neither have I been so wretched either. No matter what shit has come my way: and boy there's been plenty, NOTHING has been allowed to overwhelm me the way my son's death did.
My four children fill the four chambers of my heart, but one is gone, that chamber can never be filled so I don't work right, I know it but I breath, I live, the world continues to turn with me on it.
...too early to be melancholy...caffeine is needed I think. |
