the regrets of being blocked
Jump to: Newest in thread
Hiya,
Just a thought provoking thread really.
There's a lady on here who blocked me ages ago. I don't know why she blocked me but obviously you don't get blocked for no reason. I'd obviously done something which displeased her. Lol.
Anyway, I've been watching these forums recently since coming back after a month or two off... And this girl is lovely. She has such a nice attitude towards things and I can just read her personality, you know?
Anyway... One time I posted on her thread not realising she was the op, or a poster and I got suspended from the forums for 24hrs! She must have complained or something? Just strange because I don't know what I've done which was so offensive! I mean, I'm an alright type of guy - I think! Haha!
Was just pondering over this just then while looking over peoples threads...

She posts on this forum and is a lovely girl? Well that's narrowed it down then! A lot. (awaits the expected deluge of housebricks on his head) |

OP did you get blocked for stalking? The ban was probably for using the forums to try to get round a block, it's not allowed for good and sensible reasons. Expect this to get pulled by the mods when they see it too. |

I usually see the age range as a block, and i dont mean a cock block haha.
There are so many individuals on fab who have me biting my lips, but as i dont meet their age range..i cant always message them with a view to arrange a meet sometime in the future (im not brave like that lol)
..the only downside is, they never know that a lovely guy like me exists.

To be honest a person can on here can block anyone and there doesn't even have to be a reson why.... It's down to individuals who they want to interact with or not! |

It's frustrating when you don't know why you have been blocked.
But it's one of those things you have to just live with. You will probably never know.
You can still post on the same threads to express an opinion. But you can't try to directly speak with her.

Why do you think you have done something wrong?
A friend of mine lives in an area where it would leave no doubt as to whom he/she is in that village, hence everyone with the same postcode that is on or joins the site he/she automatically blocks by making regular searches.
Don't over think it! |

Again, why do people concentrate on those not interested in them?!! I truly don't get it. Sometimes someone writes something on the forums asking advice etc and I go to reply privately I'm blocked: *shrugs* back to the forum, and the world continues to turn.
Some people need to get over themselves and get a life! |

If you use the forums to get round a block then you will get banned, and I for one do not believe you didn't realise who the OP was |

I don't think he is concentrating on the reason he is blocked but being banned from the forums for just listing on a thread of hers is a bit harsh don't you think?
Providing of course he was commenting on the thread topic and not trying to ask why he was blocked. |

If commenting on threads by people who blocked us leads to a ban then there'd be tumble rolling on these forums.
However, I've seen people post on threads "op, you've blocked me so I can't send you a message" type thing: now that deserved a ban! |

I think banning someone from the forum to replying to a thread probably means the OP was blocked for more personal reasons.
I find that odd to be honest. I have replied, and directly quoted, posters who have me on their block list, yet never been banned. Obviously without knowing why (which we won't speculate on) it is difficult to discuss that aspect, but it does seem a bit harsh. |

I hate it when someone sends you a nasty message after you have politely said no thank you and then instantly blocks you so you cant respong

As soon as I read the opening post, I thought that he'd answered his own question why he was blocked. Responding to a post from someone who has blocked you, is not a reason to be banned, if the response is fairly general. It is when you use posts to initiate contact, after you have been blocked, that is not allowed |

Never had that. Been blocked after sending some nice/polite messages, or even with no reply. But never had anyone bother to reply before blocking. |

Yeah it does say she must have complained. I hope so else I'm going to have to be a lot more circumspect about who I respond to on here. |

Wouldn't worry
I've been banned for saying things which are normal chit chat on other forums.it can be very n koreanesque on here.
We have also blocked lots of people.its just the way it is.saves messages or profile views from people you have no interest in meeting. |

Why is the OP regretting being blocked? Ah, read the post and he has his eye on someone specific. If only she realised he is perfect for her because she is lovely she must be worth pursuing.
I wouldn't be able to post if general comments were not allowed. I'm blocked by many I like to interact with on the forum. They have their reasons and I don't question their reasons. |

I only block bi or gay guys who don't get the hint from a polite reply that says not interested!! now i know that guys like to pursue or chase i'm one myself, but if i don't get a reply after a first message i will then send a polite message to see if they didn't get the first one, after that it's time to move on, theres plenty more beautiful people on here to chat too. |

Without the facts it is speculation but if the OP is correct and his message was not rude and the forum post also was not rude related to the ban, then how is he banned from forum,
If a user complains how much investigation is undertaken or are we in a situation whereby anyone cam cause anyone problems by simply making bogus complaints. |

These things happen people can block who they like....when they like..just move on from it |

Anyone can hit the report button and state their reason. We don't actually know it was her or what his post said. |

Totally agreed,
but if for example you hit report on me and gave a reason that is untrue is the accusation investigated or taken at face value, if the latter we are all vulnerable,

This thread is creepy
Posting on a thread that was started by someone that has blocked you would not get you a ban unless you were talking about the block
This thread could get you one though |

I would say that, in theory, everyone is vulnerable. I would imagine there would need to some weight of evidence (ie multiple complaints), before any action would be taken. Possibly some sort of 'warning' initially, as can't really see who is to be believed, unless all messages are retained somewhere. Even that wouldn't account for such as 'no-shows', or abuse over phone/text. |

I've been blocked by people I've had no contact with. I either put it down to them having an animus against CD's, or they have read my forum posts and correctly concluded I'm a wally.
For myself, I have blocked stalkers, people who have a major thing against CD's (mostly to stop me from looking at their new pics a month later), some blatant fakes and a few people on grounds of taste from the forum.
It doesn't bother me getting blocked |

Hahaha, yeah...
Some of you are saying its creepy, stuff like that...
It's not like it think about this girl all day or anything. I've just simply noticed how nice her demeanor is on these forums.
When I post in thereads I don't check if I'm blocked, I just reply if I fancy it.
Apparently, I was trying to get round a block or something? I don't see how though. obviously, if I had pleaded with her on a thread, that would be weird. Of if I asked her to unblock or something...
I mean, it doesn't bother me. Not going to lose sleep lol. Just something I noticed last night. I can't help to wonder what it is I've done wrong to someone who seems so nice.
Also I don't see how this post can get me suspended as it isn't specific. |

" it's a 24 hour forum ban, does it really matter if the investigation is thorough and fair?
That is IF the OP is accurate that the person reported his post, if there was any attempt on his part to circumvent the block the mods would quite rightly taken action without any report. |

Well, you sound charming on your profile - maybe she's in fact 31, or classifies her boobs as large, or likes small men......
;-)
People one here have all kinds of bizarre criteria for using banning as filtering system it seems - whereas I feel someone has to offend before being banned. But chances are you have done nothing wrong, you just don't fit her criteria, or she doesn't fit yours. |

Getting round mail blocks does result in a forum ban...no one has to complain about it, a mod just has to see it.
Take it on the chin that someone has you blocked. |
