We're pretty awful, what were your best and worst memories ?

Had to be the different puddings - bleurgh tapioca and semolina

But Strawberry custard and sponge pudding had to be the best

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

At primary school we had the best dinners but I was put off custard for life. My sister would get my portion and hers.

Ohh agree with the strawberry sponge and custard, Manchester tart, choc sponge and choc sauce and cornflake tart

Our other best bit was the tuck shop at break times sausage rolls and shit balls (they were cornflake and choc/mars bar balls)

I have no bad memories about the dinners. Dinners were lush. Try not to think about it though as doing that brings up memories of school. Bad times.

Now I feel old as I remember the outcry when they went up from 10p to 12p

I loved the chocolate crunch cake with mint custard

P.O. Box DE1 0NQ

Having spent 10 yrs at boarding school, it wasn't just the dinners you had to be wary of

No, in all honesty most of them were pretty edible by most standards. In fact at my second school we helped cook them as well

It happened about the same time as the bus fare went up too.

Had an old Golden Virginia or Old Holborn tobacco tin to keep the money in

West Yorkshire

I didn't really embrace school dinners when I was at school, I was so picky and would invariably have sandwiches from the selection, probably with chips.

Having just trained as a teacher, I think school dinners are great now particularly at the school my kids go to. Salad bar, roasts, curries, fish (not just fingers!), various pies and loads of different veg. Now it's my eldest who has sandwiches most days lol.

Loved 'em. Right from the days when there was only two choices. Have what it is today or go hungry.

We just paid in cash too, none of this having to give a fingerprint before you can eat.
